5 out of 5 eggs Easy Fix with Latest Firmware 11/01/2011

This review is from: ADATA S511 Series 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) AS511S3-120GM-C

Pros: Over 500MB/s read and write
Flawless operation after Firmware update.
Telephone support has real people.

Cons: Earlier firmware had that bug where the drives suddenly are not recognized by BIOS / OS. (The key for this is don't panic...This bug is worked around by simply shutting off computer (power off the PSU) and rebooting...
After installing the latest Firmware this problem is now gone.

Other Thoughts: Would like to see removal of rebates...
just give me the best price.

Cons: none.

Nikon Coolpix S8100 Black 12.1 MP 3.0

  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Its thin enough to fit in pocket. The user Interface is handy. (the spinning wheel is useful for selection vs hitting a button tens of times. 1080P quality movies! 10x zoom works when making movies.

Cons: Focus just sucks. Its constantly changing focus and blurring. Not worth using for important events because the focus at distance, or up close is really bad.
It uses a proprietary format for the SSD card. So, you can't access the data on the card directly. (You can access it thru a non-std interface)
Not enough Manual Options.

Other Thoughts: The transfer speeds are very slow. (probably because of the proprietary formatting). I have a much older Panasonic (Lumix) DMC-FZ5, that sends data to the computer using a standard card reader.
I confirmed my firmware to latest. No reason for such slow speeds, and for non-standard data format.

I have to email Nikon and get this focus issue fixed (works only in some pics in good light)
