I Also Had the Older Ergo
Pros: Nice layout and palm rest. Comfortable to use for a long time.
Cons: As someone else stated, the shift key takes a little while to come back so I get two capital letters. Also, the space bar needs some force to push and makes a thunk noise. This means that all you hear is type, type, type, THUNK, type, THUNK. It is literally driving me crazy. Since it is beyond the return policy, and since I had to RMA it once already, I say you should try it before buying it.
Overall Review: More than ten bux spent to send it back to CA because it is relatively heavy and the spacebar is driving me crazy. I would not do this again if a friend had it and I tried it first.
Like the Drive, but not the BSODs
Pros: Like other SSDs, very fast boot and load times.
Cons: I leave my computer running all the time. In the last 4 years of owning this laptop (E6500), I never got a BSOD. I've upgraded HDs up to 500GB. Installed this drive and computer boots MUCH faster, but it does randomly BSOD for no reason I can discern. It's done it around 10 times in a month. I put the old platter hd back and it has not blue-screened once since then. Full disclosure: I run WindowsXP SP3. This drive was imaged using Acronis True Image 13, a copy of the 500GB HD that works flawlessly. Hope this review helps anyone considering purchasing this item.
Nice Picture, Some Issues
Pros: Nice picture, ability to add second display to laptop.
Cons: System keeps locking up with no warning at all. I am running WinXP SP3 on a Dell E6500. I bought a HannsG 28" LCD as my primary (very nice, also bought at NewEgg) and an Acer 23" LCD as my secondary display. Everything looks great. I am running Excel, Word, FF 3.5 and FileZilla and Arachnophilia HTML editor. I move the browser window over to the secondary monitor to see website changes as I upload them. When I am using the browser, the screen locks up and the computer freezes, including the mouse cursor. I will try not having the browser on the secondary monitor (maybe JavaScript is the problem, as someone said Java makes this adapter flaky). I'll update this review if I get the freeze problem corrected. TomG.
Like the Look, but...
Pros: Nice aluminum finish, quiet, nice LED fans.
Cons: Bought 6 units for gaiming PC's. Two of the six died on me.
Overall Review: Banging on the side caused the supplies to work temporarily. The shipping cost of the returned PC's more than made up for any profit we made.
