Worth the upgrade
Pros: + Can be used at air intake or exhaust + Much better heat sink than stock intel
Cons: - fan screws too short to use the rubber washers that comes with my PC case. End up having to give up the rubber washers. - no easy way to confirm the pump is working
Overall Review: The i7-4790K LGA 1150 overheats (reaches 100 degree C) when using stock intel heat sink. So I replaced it with this corsair cooler. Against corsair's recommendation, I installed it as an exhaust because my PC case is setup as positive pressure. Although not as optimum, the CPUs still run alot cooler than using stock intel heat sink. I also removed the thermal compound that comes with it and used arctic silver. I wish there is a light to indicate the pump is working, and an overheat alarm in case the pump fails.
inexpensive PT not Z camera
Pros: inexpensive
Cons: lens barrel distortion no confirmation of successful wireless connection no exposure options, full auto at all times
Overall Review: It pans and tilts but doesn't zoom. There is a built-in web server for controlling the device, just like your router. If you want to connect to this device from outside your house, you need to set your router to port forward. It has built-in support for DDNS that I haven't tried. I didn't use the bundled CD; I used an IP scanner to find the camera's IP and then just use a browser. It has the same MAC addr on both wired and wireless. There's a clicking sound when IR is being switched on or off. The IR LEDs are visible but very dimly red. Focusing is focus free --anything from 2 foot out is reasonably sharp. The overall packaging, user manual, and the built-in web server have a low budget feel.
Black and white only!
Pros: Easy setup is easy to setup. Just download the exe and run it.
Cons: (1) I was surprised it is black and white. I guess I assume it was color because it doesn't say black and white anywhere (2) What is the IP address of the webcam when connect via wifi? I need that for my router to reserve the same ip for the camera -- not necessary but easier for me to manage it. (3) refresh rate is low (12 fps) when using the dlink cloud
Overall Review: No where does it say black and white only. I only realized that after I installed the camera. True, it doesn't say color either.
Drive bay runs hot
Pros: + No tools needed to add a drive to the lower drive bay + Plenty of space to mount case fans
Cons: -Power supply at bottom. If the case is placed on carpet it would block the air intake of power supply. Must be placed on hard surface. -The bottom of the power supply rattles against the case -The lower drive bay runs hot. Even mounting a fan in front of the drive bay doesn't help much because drive bay wall blocks most air flow - One of the front cover latch is blocked if the bottom drive bay is in use - adding a hard drive requires removing both side panels - no quick release for side panels
DOA twice
Pros: seemed to be a good deal
Cons: The new drive I received had drive error. I didn't use it until the warranty was almost over. I sent it in for a replacement. The replacement drive also was DOA and makes the PC way slower to boot up. Unfortunately I also didn't test it immediately. By the time I found out, it's past warranty period.
Works, with a privacy caveat
Pros: Free "landline". The obi100 is smaller than I thought -- smaller than a deck of cards.
Cons: You have to give obihai your google voice's account name and password! Also, I wish the setup process is a little simpler.
Overall Review: If you have not setup your google voice yet, create a new google account instead of using an existing one, because you'd have to give the password to obihai.
