Nothing better
Pros: Exceptional performance. Have tried many different thermal pastes and Arctic Silver consistantly outperforms any other thermal transfer solutions.
Cons: Never once have I personally experienced an issue, however I have seen speculation that it *may* cause an issue because it is mildly electrically conductive. Used properly (and use is far from rocket science), this would never be an issue.
Overall Review: This is the only thermal paste I would use or recommend to others. Sure, others work. Arctic Silver works best.
Nice case, easy build, cheesy PSU
Pros: Higher quality construction than I expected. For the price, a very nice-looking case. Plenty of room for my components and adequate, though not above-average airflow. Case temp for AMD Phenom II x4 3.2GHz at idle 92F, under load 137F. Motherboard at idle 84F, under load 124F. Not too bad for high performance parts in a small case. Could add a bay cooler in the 5 1/4in bay to draw in cool air to help.
Cons: Power supply burned out after 3 hours of use. The smell of melted electronics lingers for hours. The front panel could be snugger, although it didn't actually come off like many others have experienced. Very minor bend or two on the top cover's corners but almost unnoticeable.
Overall Review: No damage at all was done to any attached components. Contacted NewEgg support and RMA'd the case. The process could not possibly have been simpler. NewEgg even covered shipping charges! I love NewEgg! I will be putting a much lower-powered build in this case once the RMA is complete and buying a different HTPC case that uses a standard ATX power supply for my Phenom II PC instead. Although the case is really very nice, I do not feel a micro ATX power supply will meet my needs despite the components being within the specifications allowed for power draw. For a setup using integrated video only and maybe a lower TDP CPU (think 65 watts), this would have been absolutely unbeatable for the price.
Tons of space, surprisingly fast, very quiet
Pros: Was able to consolidate multiple drives. This drive is very quiet. The spin-up time is far less noticeable (and far less noisy) than the Western Digital Green drives I've used for mass storage in the past (which also died on me...twice). All of my Steam games are now stored on this drive and even though it is 5400RPMs, the load time hasn't suffered much at all versus having been stored on a 7200RPM Western Digital Black drive previously. I would highly recommend this drive to anyone who has a serious need for space or for consolidating multiple drives (saves energy, less heat generated, most hard drive space per drive if you have a small case that may only have room for one or two drives, etc).
Cons: None
Overall Review: I've had this drive for two months so far. It works flawlessly. It replaced a 2TB and 1.5TB drive. It stores all my pictures, music, movies, games, and documents accumulated over many years and I still have over 600GB free. I have a lot of faith in this drive based on my years of using Seagate drives and my experience with this one thus far. Of course, putting all your eggs in one basket can lead to sadness. Sadness can not get your data back. Back up your most precious data!
Recommended for HTPC
Pros: Use a regular ATX power supply - very important for cheap/easy replacement if needed. Required for high performance GPUs if used in build. Quality construction. Lightwieght, durable, polished finish. No sharp edges. Plenty of working room for a HTPC case. Great price for the quality and enough room for most GPUs (Sapphire 4860 fits just nice). Stays cool even during extended gaming sessions.
Cons: Front panel a little difficult to open and close - the catch takes more pressure to operate than I'd have expected. Still, it works smoothly. The front panel hook ups are a terrific feature but all of the wires do add to clutter inside the case. Careful cable management is a must. Case comes with cable ties and stick-on cable holders to help with that. Very large GPUs will probably not fit in this case. The Sapphire 4860 fit PERFECTLY as would cards with the same dimensions but the 58xx series ATI cards and the Nvidia 460 and up may not.
Overall Review: The front panel does sit flush and looks great when closed - saw some reviews indicating that was not the case but the one I got does not have that issue at all. The case does not include the LCD screen. It is sold separately Item#:N82E16811996003. LCD looks great and really finishes off case but admittedly not all that useful.
Great little light!
Pros: Plugs into USB. Holds positions well. Plenty of light for keyboard and some ambient light for surrounding area. Not overly bright. Did not cause glare on screen.
Cons: None whatsoever.
Overall Review: Gets the job done and is very inexpensive. Would recommend to anyone - particularly netbook and laptop users.
