This review is from: ASUS P9D-X ATX Server Motherboard LGA 1150 DDR3 1600/1333
Pros: this mobo is feature-rich.
Cons: I got this motherboard to boot one time, and then started to load Windows 2012R2, before it failed due to a "configuration" issue. During that one post, I saw the memory, CPU, hard drives were all good. No more boots after that.
With a new Intel Xeon E3-1225v3 cpu, it goes as far as beeping 4 times and shows the number "55" on the lower right screen. Then it recycles, beeping 4 times all over again.
From other posts and research I found that the C222 and C224 -chipset mobos need a graphics card installed. (the web site and manufacturer never state this!). So I then installed the graphics card, cleared the bios, pulled the battery, etc. and restarted. Exact same post results- 4 beeps. I called Robert at SuperMicro tech support; they have NO idea what 4 beeps mean. Said I should RMA it. So I did. Very disappointed- do the C222/C224 mobos need a graphics card installed? I tried diff. power supplies, booting out of the case, nothing attached to the mobo, just 4 beeps.
Additionally, this mobo comes with NO driver disk. You have to download everything from their FTP site. FTP site download fails 2/3 of the way through. Their support web site for this mobo has dead links also. Very challenging to get the needed software.
Other Thoughts: I've been building systems for over 20 years; as a Systems Admin I've done this a few times.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: NETGEAR 5 Port Gigabit Business-Class Desktop Switch - Lifetime Warranty (GS105)
Pros: This is a great simple switch that works as expected. I get Gig speeds from this switch between my servers and workstations.
Cons: no cons; in hind-sight I should have gotten more than a 5 port switch, maybe a 10 port. But this will work great!READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I bought 4 of these drives; 3 of the 4 worked perfectly and one was DOA, clicking upon power-up. I RMA'd it and got another back. Now all 4 of these drives are working perfectly in a RAID 10 configuration on my server with zero issues. I'd recommend W/D over the Sea_ate drives from my experience.
Cons: once that one bad drive was RMA'd, I have no issues with W/D drives.READ FULL REVIEW
