VANTEC NexStar HX4R NST-640S3R-BK Aluminum / Plastic 3.5" Black SATA I/II/III USB 3.0 & eSATA Quad Bay RAID HDD Enclosure
VANTEC NexStar HX4R NST-640S3R-BK Aluminum / Plastic 3.5" Black SATA I/II/III USB 3.0 & eSATA Quad Bay RAID HDD Enclosure

Pros: -Great design; does not look or feel like it was cheaply made. I do appreciate the fact that it doesn't follow the normal convention of boxy design like all the other enclosures. Aesthetically pleasing I must say. The individual HDD lights aren't too annoyingly bright. -The fans are great and keeps my temps within +/-4 degrees Celsius from room temperature even when I was migrating large volumes of data. Stays relatively quiete even at 90%, you do notice a big jump on noise once it is cracked up to 100%. -Easy to assemble and install the drives. My drives were automatically detected. -Speed, lastly I was very impressed with the speeds. eSATA speeds were satisfyingly close to the rated 6Gbit/s, mind you my drives were not set in RAID or JBOD. I noticed that USB speeds were great as well, consistently transferring on average ~30-40MB/s with files over 4GB, even peaking at around 80MB/s.

Cons: A bit pricey I think, It would be nice if it were around $10 less.

Overall Review: I have three 3TB Seagate drives and one 3TB WD Green drive. Using HD Tune Pro for SMART monitoring. I am currently using it as my NAS/Media Server/Backup device. Great piece of hardware, would definitely buy this again if I need another set.

MSI Z77MA-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
MSI Z77MA-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: As I write this, I've had this board for about three weeks. - Bios features are great. - One-click OC works very well. - Price at the time of buying this was great, included a rebate special as well.

Cons: One of the PCI Express slots broke after utilizing it for a day. I was using a SATA II/eSATA controller that I had been using on another build for quite some time now. After a day of having it installed, I noticed that my eSATA device was not recognized anymore. Infact, after looking at the device list, the PCI-E card wasn't there anymore. I decided to switch it to a different PCI-E slot and it worked. I reset CMOS and it was still broken. Very disappointed since I've owned this for less that 4 weeks. Thinking about RMA'ing it, but it's such a hassle to do so and I'm still waiting on my rebate. If rebate doesn't go through, I am returning this board with much hope for a full refund.
