SeaSonic X-1050 ( SS-1050XM2 ) 1050W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: -After sending an email, I received a text from the RMA department
-Sales person on the phone was helpful and knowledgeable on the psu.
-Like I previously have stated it does get the job done when it was working right.

Cons: -I'm no engineer and I don't have an oscilloscope to monitor how the psu distributes power but I'm experiencing the same symptoms of a previous review from 2012. Besides from the burnt plastic on the 8 pin cpu connector- at both male ends, I'm experiencing random shut downs during light gaming and the red LED that indicates overcurrent protection.

Other Thoughts: - Even though Seasonic RMA support responded pretty quickly to my emails, they should add a support number because not every company responds in a matter of hours or the same day. But Kudos to Kevin and Frank for the quick replys.

Pros: -Does the job when it lasted.
-Nice option to have the the fans running all the time with a switch near the power connector.

Cons: Seasonic support is terrible. There is no support number just an email. After you fill out all the paperwork online it just gives you an address to where to send the defective psu thats it; they dont even provide you with an RMA number. I had to call sales and they couldnt even reach the RMA department.

PSU issue;
- the plastic on the 8pin connector to the psu melted. Also the male connector to the motherboard- luckily i was using an extension or the female 8pin connection on the motherboard would have been affected.

Other Thoughts: - buy from a company that has a support number

MSI X99S SLI Plus LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

3 out of 5 eggs Nice board for its price 05/14/2015

This review is from: MSI X99S SLI Plus LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: -decent board at a decent price
-Works fine after updating bios to v1.8
-5820k oc to 4.6ghz @ 1.285v on this board
-xmp profile from memory kit doesn't raise blck to 125 mhz like on other boards.

Cons: -the 4 VIA usb 3.0 ports only runs at 2.0, Tried to reninstall drivers with the same results. So the only ports that do run at 3.0 speeds are the 2 asmedia and 2 intel ports. So false advertisement from MSI or VIA usb 3.0 are terrible.
-I have no idea how the 100mhz, 125mhz, 167mhz straps are beneficial because there is no option in bios to change to those specific blck settings. You can type it in manually.
-Couldn't boot from windows cd when I set the boot priority to CD/DVD drive. You have to set the boot priority to UEFI CD/DVD.
-Longer boot time compared to my previous z77 build, unless you enable MSI fast boot and Windows 8/8.1 features.

Other Thoughts: Still a decent board for its price. For some reason every MSI board I've had always had compatabilty issues with mouse and keyboard at initial boot. Either it be from the z77 mpower to the x99s sli, I always had to update bios.
