Pros: Economical, cost effective storage, very reasonable performance, large capacity with hefty cache and quiet.
Cons: None I can think of.
Other Thoughts: Have been pounding on these drives for over a solid week doing large file transfers and high amount of traffic with updates without a single hiccup. Highly recommend plus Newegg has these at a killer price. Compare to other drives of the same capacity and read some of their reviews to get comfortable but you'll end back on this product page.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Synology DS213 Diskless System DiskStation - Simple Set-Up, Easy Efficiency
Pros: Setup is easy, fast, with no need for detailed technical references. Adding decent sized disks, creating a volume and downloading libraries for the household to share was also very easy to do. Web interface was intuitive and there was ample information on the internet from the manufacturer on setups for unique applications.
Cons: Petty stuff like scratches on the finish and somewhat slow in transferring large file structures
Other Thoughts: You can't beat this rig for the money. If you have the skill and the time to build something from scratch, it will be much faster but nowhere near as economical as this little box. Also, why would you need all that horsepower for typical home usage like streaming music, playing movies, photo storage, etc. A friend of mine also had one of these and complained bitterly about the performance but a quick sniff of his network determined the problem was with an older router. After upgrading, he was shocked at the tremendous improvement. I usually don't recommend products online but this is clearly deserving of praise.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Unit comes in packaging that reflects the company is proud of the product they sell. BIOS is the best I've come across in flexibility, ease of use and provides all the features you'd expect of a high-end board. Finally, for the past week I've been throwing every kind of stress test and benchmark at this MOBO and have yet to be disappointed. In particular, sustained high IO and CPU loads which have broken every other board I've tried seems to do quite well on this one.
Cons: On assembly, be very careful to use a magnetic screwdriver and don't drop the screws or you will have a challenge either fishing out the screw from under the cover or doing disassembly.
Other Thoughts: In general I'm very pleased with this product though I would not recommend for a first build due to cost and the temptation to push performance beyond what is good for the product. Also there are assembly issues which a newbie might have a problem - see above. Put a compact water cooler on a high end CPU and you will not be disappointed.READ FULL REVIEW
