This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS 104 4-Bay Network Attached Storage Diskless (RN10400)
Pros: I did my research and you can't go wrong with this NAS device. The packaging was enterprise level and top notch. Double boxed by Netgear.
The install of RED Western Digital Drives was straight forward and simple. The firmware upgrade to the latest version was automatic and smooth when logging into the web interface for the first time.
Don't get hung up on the time it takes to sych when first initializing an array with clean drives. It all happens in the background and I don't know why others get hung up on this. It's validating and protecting your data while setting up the RAID and the performance while it's syncing the array is still very, very good. I was seeing over 40 megs per second transfers to the NAS while still synching. (this is over 400Megabits/second / 40% plus use of a gigabit lan connection)
Cons: One minor nit pick might be the drive tray... it was a little tricky sliding the black mounting bracket out of the drive tray. I didn't want to force anything and it only took a minute to figure out how it was intended to work. Looking at the manual before hand would have been easier! It's hardly worth mentioning.
If you understand the Unix/Linux file system, it will be a plus for setting up permissions on your shares etc... It's still very simple and has been abstracted nice in the Netgear web interface for this NAS device however.
Other Thoughts: I'm an avid newegg buyer and tech geek and I find that all too often that negative reviews are really unfounded in most cases. Lack of understanding and jumping to conclusions should never be a knee jerk reaction to slam a product IMHO. Sit back and take a breath and understand why something works the way it does. Again, this is a fine product and has exceeded my expectations.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: For the price, this gaming laptop memory can't be beat. I have 16 gigs in an ASUS G53SW and CPU-Z is showing the 1600mhz times at 9-9-9-24 timings with a 2T command Rate. The WEI in Windows 7 bumped up to 7.8 as compared to previous 1333mhz ram (16 gigs of the previous brand). I have read that an i7 2630QM doesn't support 1600mhz timings. CPU-Z is showing otherwise and it's clear there was a performance gain. I was expecting to just get better than 9 cas timings at 1333mhz when I bought it, but I'm happing the G53SW is running at the higher rated timings!
Cons: It's out of stock as of the time I wrote this... the price is on the higher side, but for the enhanced timings and speed, it's expected.READ FULL REVIEW
