Sammys Tough Drives

SAMSUNG 830 Series 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) F-MZ-7PC064DAM
SAMSUNG 830 Series 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) F-MZ-7PC064DAM

Pros: If its longevity is like their 470 series, this will be another long lasting drive. Been using 2 470's for almost two years now without a hitch, while others have quit or slow drastically. Complete kit for installation, metal case.

Cons: None yet, write speeds not as fast as some, but I will take that for reliability.

Overall Review: Will update as drive is put through its paces.

another returned for refurb junk

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: speed 32mb buffer newegg, you also get to know your ups driver very well as he will be a good friend with this drive seagate is also gracious enough to give you a refurb model back that have the same problems, geez that is so nice of them, newegg advice return them all back and keep your reputation.

Cons: 2 drives in less than a month 36 hours of use in two machines both down even after updating the bios in the drive, they get recognized but show as having 0 mb capacity seatools fails in short and long test

Overall Review: this is definitly a case for class action costs me 15 bucks so far in shipping the garbage back, could have WD 1TB drive with same specs, not to mention seagates return policy, luckily I saved a few HD boxes to send them back in. Stay awawy from these drives at all cost, I think all of us that removed the 1.5 gig limit by removing that jumper have had problems with these drives, they can't take the heat -4 stars in my opinion

Speed Hardware Dependent

NetGear XAV2001 Powerline AV 200 Ultra Adapter - 200Mbps, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port
NetGear XAV2001 Powerline AV 200 Ultra Adapter - 200Mbps, 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port

Pros: I have fairly newer computers with equally newer motherboards and routers rated at 300mb/sec. Had one system that was impossible to hard wire w/o having a cord on the floor for people to trip over. Installed and tested, download speeds were at 170 mb/sec and upload at 150. Not bad for house wiring IMO.. Plug and play took under five minutes.

Cons: None so far, we will see about the longevity, but netgear has a great reputation. Need right hardware to get real speed out of them, or maybe newer wiring, we had or place rewired 6 months ago, may have made a difference.

Does what it says "Update Remote"

KWORLD SA290-Q LE Digital TVBox VGA/YPbPr 1080i Output
KWORLD SA290-Q LE Digital TVBox VGA/YPbPr 1080i Output

Pros: Picks up all my OTA channels and handles them just fine, I do not have any other service so do not use any QAM channels. Keep it well ventilated and use only one output at a time to keep heat down, or you will burn the unit out.

Cons: The only real complaint I have about it is that the remote is garbage. I used the program feature on my cheapo remote and now I can point it away from the unit and still changes channels, also you can use a logitech remote like the 30 dollar 300i, it is listed in their database and works great with it. Do not think you will pick up channels with a small indoor antenna if you do not live next to the towers.

Overall Review: I have the HDhomerun, this unit, and a higher end tuner with a four HDMI switch built into it and optical audio out. Out of the three, the HDMI changing device works the best especially when hooked to my pc with HDhomerun to record things. As far a tuners and stabilized channels, for me it is a tie between my high end tuner and the Kbox, with the edge going to the high end one, which cost about 3x as much.

Who needs all the bells and whistles

Logitech Harmony 300i (915-000143) Universal Infrared Remote
Logitech Harmony 300i (915-000143) Universal Infrared Remote

Pros: Cost, battery life, codes for everything that the higher costing Harmony remotes and works with windows 7 media center. If your setup has only four or less components, like a LCD, Sat/cable box, Surround sound receiver and Media Center PC, this will fit your needs at a fraction of the cost of the higher end models. My experiences with the other Harmony remotes is less then desirable, as far as durability. The recharger tends to stop working properly with in a few months and you need to move it on the charger to get it to work even after cleaning the leads. I have also had an LED burn out on one just after the one year warranty was up, paid 189.00 buck for a one year remote, not to mention the volume buttons are notorious for wearing out. This simpler model is built much better with solid feeling buttons.

Cons: If you have more then 4 major components, then this is not for you. I have video games connected also which run through a hdmi switch on my surround receiver, so I simply use the remote to switch the inputs on the stereo for each game, so no big deal. Yes it is nice to be able to press one button to do this, but that can be programed via the online software. It is not fully backlit, so seeing the buttons in the dark are hard to see.

Overall Review: Best remote for the money. Every remote code available.

Know something about Electricity

ePOWER TVPS550 550 W ATX12V Power Supply
ePOWER TVPS550 550 W ATX12V Power Supply

Pros: Decent quiet power supply especially for the price. One reviewer mention it put out 29 amps on the main 12v supply and that fried his motherboard. That statement is completely false, as the MB will draw only the amount of amps it needs, no more, and the power supply will only put out what is needed.

Cons: None.
