PC Power & Cooling ModXStream Pro Series 700 Watt 80+ Semi-Modular Active PFC Performance Grade ATX PC Power Supply (OCZ700MXSP)
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: It was a nice, modular power supply.

Cons: While it lasted. Made it 4 years, died this week. Warranty period has passed.

Other Thoughts: Looks like a lot of people have been losing their OCZ power supplies recently. Sucktastic. I guess my 600w unit is on death row too.

WD Red 2TB NAS Hard Disk Drive - 5400 RPM Class SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch - WD20EFRX
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: It was relatively inexpensive per GB. Decent RMA process with advance replacement, which is nice.

Cons: Died after ~5 months. I got the privilege of paying $6 to RMA and get a refurb. Yay.

Other Thoughts: I only buy WD platter drives. I recently tried Samsung, that was a mistake. I'm very loyal to WD, and all the drives I'd had from them in the past have taken a beating and gone way past their warranty date. This is the first WD I've ever had that died prematurely. I guess it was my turn. Hopefully this refurb holds up, but I'm not hopeful over the long term.

Western Digital Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5

  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Bought and installed as a boot drive in April 08. This week it started dying. Almost made it 5 years, not bad.

Cons: Only has a 3 year warranty. I was hoping for 5. (Didn't WD offer 5 back in the day?)
