This review is from: TP-LINK Archer C9 Wireless AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router
Pros: The C9 offers a clean, functional package featuring 3 independently orient-able antennae. However in some situations the C9's form-factor prevents optimizing antennae orientation. The C9's robust & complete feature set provides excellent Basic & Advanced pages for: config, & monitoring network status. Clear front panel LED status/function indicators + a power & On/Off-line Internet switching provide the C9 w/convenient, "fine grain" control!
Cons: Across the board ac 1900 ROUTER(S) U3 port bandwidth is mediocre w/fractional USB 3.0 performance. THE C9’s USB 3.0 port B/W performance is middle/lower end when judged against ROUTERS w/U3 port specs like: W:60Mb/s & R:80Mb/s as reported by other brands. This performance LVL equates to reasonably fast performance which when config'd w/a 256GB U3 flash drive = a fairly capacious, medium performance, “wireless/WIFI” "server".
Other Thoughts: The C9 is oddly "resistant" to subnet value changing e.g.: 192.168.x(2,1,0).1.
Once surmounted non-default subnet value changes remain stable. TP-L ph support, hold times often >1hr+ (burning cell ph mins) T/S is VERY courteous. However ENG intelligibility, given TP-L T/S agents often speak 2+ LANGS, makes the already EXTREMELY difficulty exercise of conveying, explaining T/S issues, virtually impossible.
TP-L email support is VERY responsive & "MAY" provide "useful" troubleshooting/problem solving. OR NOT! So TP-L's "unlimited, 24/7" T/S shouldn't be a highly weighted factor in making a purchasing decision. UNLESS you manage to get support from a SENIOR (“native” ENG LANG speaker) T/S agent!
Pros: For almost three months the exact same configuration that was supposedly non-compliant and therefore responsible for the horrendous performance of the embedded USB 3.0 controller has since installing the Koutech Systems PEU430 performed flawlessly 24/7/365 for 90 days straight! Achieving a minimum of 80 MB/s for Corsair and Adata USB 3.0 USB flash drives and up to 175MB/s using mid quality, 7200 RPM 2/3TB WDC/SEA/HIT HDD's, interfaced via excellent PLUGABLE USB 3.0 tray docks, which have also performed immaculately.
I'd also recommend PLUGABLE'S USB 3.0 tray docks without reservation both in terms of performance AND Plugable's (Bernie's) tremendous technical support!
Cons: Misleading cabling requirements!READ FULL REVIEW
