Cons: Drive failed to hold a format. Seagate replace it after 30 days of ownership. I let it sit in the original bag for a few months until it was needed. Formatted fine, then chkdsk /r failed. SeaTools Self Test failed. Warranty showed out of warranty. So this basically new drive is going to the landfill. Sad.
Other Thoughts: I have trusted Seagate for over a decade. I have heard from my IT tech peers that Seagate reliability has gone WAY down in the past year or two, especially for drives larger than 1 GB. Maybe this is related to the Maxtor merger? This is my 3rd Seagate failure in 6 months. Next drive will be WD or something else.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ARK IPC-2U238 Black 2U Rackmount Server Case 1 External 5.25" Drive Bays
Pros: Use: Small Business File Server
Configuration: ASUS H97M-E/CSM uATX Motherboard
16 GB RAM (2 x 8 GB)
Four 4TB HGST NAS SATA 3 hard drives - RAID 1 with hot spare, 4th drive used for backups
Nice, well made case.
Cons: Cannot screw down 1 of the 2 hard drive brackets. Lower hard drive presses against ATX 24-pin power connector on motherboard and bends the motherboard.
Case is NOT USABLE with 4 hard drives.
CASE DOES NOT MEET SPEC!
Other Thoughts: Power supply MUST have vents on the ends of the supply - towards the front of the case and the rear where the power cord connects. The bottom of the case and top of the case fit flush with the power supply. Power supplies with a big fan on the bottom, which is most power supplies (PSUs), will have the big fan inlet blocked.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: TRENDnet TPL-402E2K Powerline AV Adapter Kit w/ Pass-through Up to 500Mbps
Pros: Plug and play. If you just want to connect 2 network devices, the installation was simple and it worked. The speeds from one side of my house to the other side is about 108 MBPS.
Cons: The software Powerline Utility, which lets you enable security, change from public to private, rename devices, and MANAGE your network, IS A FRUSTRATING AND USELESS PIECE OF JUNK!!! I emailed support and they responded in a couple of days with suggestions. Unfortunately, their suggestions for using the Powerline Utility were as ineffective as the utility itself. But now, after a couple of months, the Powerline Utility doesn't even run. It says to reinstall.
Other Thoughts: I hope my neighbors can't see my shared folders!!! These powerline devices surely will not be able to stop them!
GOOD HARDWARE. FRIGHTFULLY POOR SOFTWARE.
