Pros: It's a laptop.
Cons: Freezes up constantly and the only fix is to pop the battery out. Google HP 4530s keyboard problems to find out all the problems I and many other users have had with the keyboard and HP's non resolving of the issues, as 3000 characters isn't enough to describe all the problems I've had. (Said keyboard issues also won't allow me to start Firefox in non-safe mode, making me reboot Firefox 7-10 times a day which is as often as the keyboard acts up)
Mouse pad is overly sensitive, and will turn off constantly, and won't turn back on with the double tap like it is supposed to, causing me to have to plug in an external mouse to turn it back on. Mouse pointer also freezes up several times a week, and only recourse is to pop battery to fix. If your finger rests on it for more than a nanosecond, it will randomly start opening tabs, or shut down the window you're working in entirely.
The battery went from being able to go about 300 minutes before plugging in to about 120 minutes in less than 3 months. 8 months after buying this, I'm pretty much plugged into the wall all the time.
Customer service is obviously based out of India, and unlike other India-based service centers, English training seems to be a low priority, and I've always had to spell out several words (you can't just use letters, you have to understand the Alpha, Bravo, Charlie system. They don't understand it when you say A as in apple, you have to say A as in Alpha) and it takes forever to convey your problem, and nobody has ever understood what I'm saying enough to even attempt to help with a solution.
And lastly, just a few days ago when I was working on it, the bottom left side of my monitor turned grey and got a bunch of lines on it out of the blue, and has never been the same.
Other Thoughts: I've had this laptop about 8 months, and have never hated anything I've bought in my life more. I'm about to go and buy another one this morning because I can't take how many times I have to turn off, pop the battery, deal with a crazy keyboard that doesn't work or starts typing on its own, run to go get an external mouse to fix the mouse pad that doesn't work, etc. This is the biggest waste of money I've had in the 40 years of my life, and I will never, ever buy an HP product again.READ FULL REVIEW
