Other Thoughts: This is a socket 775 motherboard, what do you mean heatsync retention bracket? OEM Intel HS has no retention bracket, if you are using some aftermarket HS that needs one that would have to come from the HS mfg not supermicro.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: DFI INFINITY P965-S LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: Good layout, no MCH fan to burn out, Intel Matrix Storage Console is pretty simple and straightforward to use.
Cons: none so far
Other Thoughts: I wanted the cheapest/most stable socket 775 board with integrated raid 5 I could get. So far it has done exactly what I have expected of it.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Koutech IO-PSA420 32-bit PCI SATA II (3.0Gb/s) Controller Card
Pros: I was trying to figure out what bwchato was talking about with 3ghz drives. I think he meant to say he has Serial ATA 2.0 hard drives which means the theoretical interface bandwidth is 3 Gbit/s.
Cons: Yes, 59mpbs is nothing to brag about, but if you take a look at a benchmark like this:
you will see that it is not that bad. I guess they thought that the real world performance would be around the maximum theoretical throughput of the interface. The fact is that modern hard drives are nowhere near as fast as the interface. I also might mention that a dual Xeon system was used for that benchmark which might also drive those results higher than a less powerful machine.
Other Thoughts: This is a good example of how poorly informed reviewers can damage a products reputation when the product is doing exactly what it claims. Please be sure of what you are talking about before bashing something.READ FULL REVIEW
