ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 + SB950 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Nice board with all the bells

Cons: Yeah the ethernet port is dying less then 6 months later

Other Thoughts: I tried asus before and had good luck but seems the ethernet ports always die on em.... would give 0 eggs if possible, I had the same problem 6 years ago and took me this long to buy another one to give em a second chance. well you lost a customer asus.

ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

5 out of 5 eggs nice cooler 02/24/2014

This review is from: ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED

Pros: Nice design and looks great keeps things cool under the hood

Cons: well when the fan ramps up creates a vibration noise. good news is I have never heard the fan ramp up unless I am stress testing the system. only time I have heard that fan go from idle without the added resistor is when I ran prime 95 for 2 hours after about 10 min the vibration noise was horrid but the fan noise wasn't too bad. the screws for am3+ installation seem to bee almost too short. seems to almost break my motherboard. there is a slight bow where the cooler is installed due to the screws being too short but works fine. WARNING THE STOCK SCREWS STRIP VERY EASY! take your time. I dont plan on building another system for about 4 years and upgrading afterwards, if you upgrade frequently and plan to install this in other systems I would see about getting replacement screws due to the allen head stripping out as soon as the screw bottoms out.

Other Thoughts: with a few upgrades on the mounting hardware and screws I would give this thing 6 stars if i could I based my review on the cooling not the semi poor mounting for am3+ socket cpus. would like to see some more comments from Intel guys and gals to see if this is just a AM3+ issue.

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO - High Air Flow Test Bench and LAN Box Desktop Computer Case with ATX Motherboard Support
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: nice airflow and well built. I showed my wife that I could stand on it (I weight 190 pounds and stood on the outer edge of the case not the center). can remove the motherboard tray to gain access below to wire your drives up

Cons: kinda cramped working in the bottom of the case but not that big of a deal. They could add way more hdd bays on the underside to make this thing a raid beast but didn't? maybe in a newer revision they could.

Other Thoughts: like any other high ventilation case dust is an issue but that is to be expected. I cannot comment on the use of the hot swap drives besides being able to put hard drives in the bay. I ripped out the controller since I did not need it and the bad reviews the controller received.
