4 out of 5 eggs ASRock X79 EXTREME4-M LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard 06/11/2013

This review is from: ASRock X79 EXTREME4-M LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: looks nice, is fast and easy to use and setup. Supports a lots of CPU(not just the i7 extremes but also a large selection of Xeon Cpu). The Ram compatibility is also nice and easy to choose whatever type DDR3 u want just about. I would give 4 and a half eggs if i could only because of the fan.

Cons: it has a tiny little fan. looks neat but it makes a small amount of noise at times. its easily fixed with a bigger heat sink or a cheap $35 water block plus about $45 in other parts(its def a con in my eyes that they have to use a fan to cool the chipset, but as i said it can be fixed for extra $$)

Other Thoughts: I removed the fan and got a bigger heat sink and some good thermal cream for the chipset. it stays the same temps and no longer makes any noise... the heatsink i used was from an older ASUS board i had laying around, so i only spent the $12 on the thermal paste. not a bad deal BUT it does not excuse the fan as being a con...

Pros: everything fits nice looks nice and has lots of space for HDD and SSD, even a spot u can setup a hotswap drive bay using an internal header from the mboard. the case also has plenty of USB. Best parts was the price i paid and the amount of features it has for its size.
