ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

4 out of 5 eggs Quiet and not too expensive 11/16/2013

This review is from: ENERMAX UC-8EB 80mm Case Fan

Pros: It was much quieter than the CPU and GPU fan. I installed 3 of them into my HTPC about three and a half years ago and 2 out of 3 are still going strong with almost continuous use.

Cons: They do not push are quite as much as I like. One of them became intermittently, but obnoxiously loud at about 2 years- far less than the 40,000 hours MTBF. It wasn't until recently that not even a shutdown and restart would temporarily fix the whine that eventually would set in.

Other Thoughts: They are quiet while they are still good. And with four of them in my HTPC, two in the front and two in the back, it moves enough air to keep ambient temps down. They were good enough that I bought four more over three years later.

All-purpose Digital Microcomputer Temperature Controller STC-1000 with NTC Sensor 110v
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: I am using this to control my keezer temperature. It's a very inexpensive alternative to buying a pre-made temperature controller for $70-80. Having control of the band around the setpoint temperature is very nice too.

Cons: Be very careful with the fragile terminal blocks on the controller. I had to resolder one of them after accidentally pulling it off the PCB. I would recommend buying a separate T-block to connect the controller and also use a project box to protect the controller as you do not want any wires tugging at the controller.

Other Thoughts: The price of the controller more than makes up its fragile construction.

OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W Modular High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 Intel 4th Gen CPU Haswell and AMD Phenom
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Looks nice. Has modular cables.

Cons: OCZ has you go online to request the rebate AND THE ONLINE SITE TO GET YOUR REBATE DOES NOT WORK RIGHT. No matter what rebate option you select it gives you an error. This is very frustrating.

Other Thoughts: It is misleading to offer a rebate that is not claimable. Why not just offer a discount instead?
