This review is from: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: for the price you can't go wrong, do the bios updates as there are 3 as of this review,i was able to put my new 4790k in and do my manual overclock to 4.8ghz at 1.275v with no heat issues, i don't normally buy asus products because of all the problems i have had with them in the past, if your looking for an affordable gaming board this is it, it's also the cheapest board i have ever purchased.i also might add 4.6 ghz it only took 1.2v with a .005 offset.
Cons: i wouldn't recommend using the 5 way optimization, at the same clock speed it took my 4.8 ghz clear up to 1.4v which was clearly uneeded, for inexperienced users may not even realize that your cpu is overvolted until it's too late, what i have read you never want to exceed 1.3 volts under any circumstances, the 5 way optimization is a nifty tool but there really needs to be a setting to choose a max voltage not just temps,i also wasn't happy with such few usb plugs on the back, but was expected for the price, as a flight simmer, alot of usb connections are required,i usually use msi boards and i am undecided if i will go back when the next chipset comes out, my only other con would be the lack of updates for there products on the asus website, it doesn't happy very often, its like they release a board and just abandon them after the fact.
Other Thoughts: overall if your looking for a cheap stable motherboard that is very overclockable with the more expensive boards,i paid 150.00 usd at released and it has already dropped 10 bucks, if i do buy another asus board it will be on the higher end side,i bought it because of the hype of the 5 way optimization,if i wasn't for that purpose i more than likely would have stayed with msi due to the constant updates and better support, good luck on your purchase consideration.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I set these to manual in the bios, in slots 2 and 4 recommended by my motherboard manufacturer (asus) and booted up first time, gives me a 9.7 windows score in windows 8, that's impressive, not to mention I wanted to be a little more future proof for the ivybridge, I will be back for a second 8 gig kit next week, if your looking for solid ram this is it.
Other Thoughts: asus z68 motherboard , i7 2600k at 4.4 ghz, gskill 2133, 8 gig kit ram
