ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VII IMPACT LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Gaming Motherboard

Pros: This board is packed, and very well designed. Put it in a BitFenix mITX case with aftermarket coolermaster cooler. ASUS' website lists Win10 drivers, so they're quick with the new Microsoft.

Cons: Nothing like assembling into a case to later find out you did want one of the daughtercards installed. Would require unmounting the board and mounting the daughtercard. Ensure you have the optionals you want on before putting it into the case. Drivers and Downloads on ASUS website is missing AI Suite 3 (among others), but on the DVD. The website needs updating.

Other Thoughts: I've found that if you're going to go ASUS, you might as well go with their highest board, it's WORTH THE COST, if you can swallow the cost. It's a great board, and I highly recommend it.

MSI GeForce GTX 960 GTX 960 GAMING 4G 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support ATX Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Can't really confidently give any pros.

Cons: new PC build, and included this in the mess of other components. Ever since the first time I tapped the power button on the case, it's been weird. Has some unknown problem. I eventually had a fullscreen OpenGL game hard lock up on me, and Win10 recovered. Event Viewer said there was a page fault. Driver stopped and was restarted. Things weren't working right

Other Thoughts: I have issued an RMA and probably won't buy another MSI. Everything from the video card was just odd, but could have just been the erroring device. After I swapped the video card out with the previous one I was using, sensors, thermals, readouts, displays, etc all working beautiful. Short lived MSI.

WD Black² Dual Drive 2.5

4 out of 5 eggs An Original 04/28/2015

This review is from: WD Black² Dual Drive 2.5" 120 GB SSD + 1 TB HDD Kit WD1001X06XDTL

Pros: Physically separate drives. Combined package. Feels like a sturdy build. Biggest spindle space I've seen on the market for a 2.5" disk.

Cons: Requires more power. To reset the drive back (in the event you want to repartition) back to factory specs, you need to write zeros to the device. WD has an article that tells you how to reset, see it in Other Thoughts. Since the drive is completely packed with storage and PCBs, you have two missing or omitted mounting screws on the underside of the drive. You have 2 out of 4 holes to screw into the bottom for mounting.

Other Thoughts: WD Support to reset/reinit the Black2 dual drive:

The device is a very cool idea, an original. I bought them on shellshocker shortly after realizing this product *exists*. Still learning.
