XFX Double D R9-270X-CDFC Radeon R9 270X 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Great card for the $$$. Was going to get a 280x and then their prices skyrocketed so I bought this instead. I can play BF4 64 player maps on everything ultra (1080p) with no issues. Can play any game on highest settings without issues. Card never gets hot. Never any problems

Cons: Not any really. The card is pretty big but gamers don't usually care.

Other Thoughts: i5-3570k

HIS H679F1GD Radeon HD 6790 1GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: This card is fantastic for budget gaming. Before I upgraded to this 6790 I had an msi 8600gts. With the 8600 I couldn't play Skyrim at all, I got ~8 FPS with it. I upgraded to this card and have settings on high with 4xAA and 8xAF at 1680x1050 and never ever get any slowdowns, even in big battles with a lot going on. I chose this card over the 6770 because for $10 more you get the 256bit bus. Excellent card for the money. There is no need to go any higher than this unless you need Ultra settings on everything you play.
Skyrim on high is beautiful btw.

Cons: Runs a little hot. But my case doesn't have the best cooling anyway.

Other Thoughts: Best bang for your buck IMO.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale Dual-Core 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W BX80570E8400 Processor
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: I've had this cpu for over 3 years now without a problem...ever. I'm on the stock HSF and am overclocked to 3.3ghz and the cpu just stays really cool. I love this thing

Cons: Somehow it's still expensive.

Other Thoughts: Only reason you would want to upgrade to an i5/7 is the quad core for gaming imo.
