1 out of 5 eggs Dont depend on tech support 10/22/2006

This review is from: BUFFALO WHR-G54S Wireless Router IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: I have 5.o Mbps DSL which works flawlessly...until I hook it up to this junker...after a couple days bandwidth goes down to 350 Kbps. I have to restart the wireless router to get my bandwidth back up to specs.

Other Thoughts: I wrote to Buffalo Tech Support...this is what they wrote back to me...
You purchased our consumer level router. The WYR-G54 does not have any bells
or whistles and can not handle over a one Megabit Wan connection. I suggest
you purchase a router designed for 5 Megabit connection and higher.

Thank you,
Steven A

Pros: Small and looks quite nice.

Cons: I hate this thing. I have 5.0 Mbps DSL which works fine until i hook it up to the router. Seems to work great for a day or two then after that it will suck my bandwidth down to no more than 2.0 Mbps...makes me so mad I feel like throwing it in a blender and chopping into dust...then send Buffalo tech a bill for the difference in price i'm paying for the 5 mbps when this thing gives no more than 2 mbps.

Other Thoughts: Why cant manufacturers just put good software and manuals with their products! Is it really that hard to do? What the hell is DD-WRT?
