2 out of 5 eggs Decent build quality, weird sensitivy issues 01/17/2014

This review is from: Razer Sabertooth Elite Gaming Controller for Xbox 360

Pros: High quality packaging, nice build quality other than the underside rockers, Highly customizable buttons and profile configuration. D-pad and mechanical A/B/X/Y buttons are great. Upon opening the package, I was satisfied with the physical quality of the product. The controller feels sturdy and has a premium feel to it...aside from than the rockers underneath. You get a nice carrying case with a premium cable, screwdriver and analog stick covers.

Cons: Underside rockers look and feel very flimsy. These rockers are also incredibly sensitive. I can imagine these failing in a very short amount of playing time. Uncomfortable hand placement while playing with the rockers intact. Maybe it's just how I hold my controller, but I found myself getting hand fatigue after playing a few hours with the Sabertooth's rockers. Also, when pressing down on the left analog stick, I had a tendency to hit the rockers accidentally with frequency. This was very annoying...but like I said, maybe I'm just holding the controller incorrectly. You can actually remove these rockers and that made it way more comfortable but what would be the point of that? They are a big selling point for this controller. My biggest gripe is the weird sensitivity issue. Playing first person shooters, the sensitivity level always feels off compared to the official Microsoft controller no matter what configuration you use. It felt like either the analog sticks were too sensitive or not sensitive enough. There was no middle ground and it just felt very unnatural compared to the official controller. I tried every type of configuration and it just would not get to the sensitivity that I wanted.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to love this controller. I had read mixed reviews from several different sites but decided to give this a chance to improve my performance in Call of Duty games on the Xbox 360. I just couldn't get comfortable with the Sabertooth no matter how hard I tried. I love the mechanical buttons and the D-pad though. The unnatural sensitivity settings and comfort level just weren't cutting it for me. If you are paying over twice the amount of money for a gaming controller over the stock, everything should be perfect. It was a good effort by Razer, but I would not recommend this product.
