Tegra Note 7

EVGA TEGRA NOTE 7 Tablet - 16GB Flash, 1GB RAM Quad Core NVIDIA Tegra 4
EVGA TEGRA NOTE 7 Tablet - 16GB Flash, 1GB RAM Quad Core NVIDIA Tegra 4

Pros: *Stock Android OS with minimal Bloatware *Powerful *Sounds great and even has a "bass port" *7" screen helps with the low resolution and the low resolution probably helps with the tablet speeds. Not really low res but compared to others it is, still looks really good. *Nice weight to it *Fairly easy to unlock the bootloader and root. custom roms aren't existent though *It's really snappy and doesn't lag with anything. I have been playing PSX emulators and it handles them with ease. Gameday '97 hell-yeah!

Cons: *Locked bootloader *Minimal Mod/community support for new roms *wicked flimsy charging port, haven't broke it yet but I'm sure I will the tolerances of the hole isn't close enough which allows the connection to wiggle. Really the only major downside *cameras suck. Some people may care, I bought it for the stock OS and hardware specs not a camera.

Overall Review: Great tablet with great specs, feels natural to use and was a great price $130 shipped. The charging port absolutely sucks and it's really a shame. I intend to make a brace to keep the connector in place when charging so I don't break the port of the PCB. Given the problems it is still worth $130 - 150 for this tablet.

Most Critical Review

This card is terrible

EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Video Card 01G-P3-1302-LR

Pros: Loud fain noise blocks out annoying sales guys in the cubes outside of my office.

Cons: *This card can't do anything that modern CPU graphics cannot do. *Extremely Loud fan noise

Overall Review: When my boss told me I'd be getting a new computer I asked for a decent graphics card. A low level card would've been nice around $80-100 and I'd have been extremely happy. Instead I got this noisemaker that I kept around simply because I thought it was taking a load off of the CPU processing which otherwise would've had to handle graphics as well. Here I am 2 years later and finally taking this card out to go back to intel HD graphics. I turned the computer on this morning and the noise was much louder than normal and I decided I had enough, removed it and I'll send it to some other poor soul.

Great card

Pros: Fast card. I got this at the $320 price point. I'm coming from 2 R7850s crossfired to this card and not seeing all that much of a performance boost but it does run most games smoother. I bought the R7850s for about 150 each a year ago and then sold one for $170 and the other for $140, subtract shipping & seller fees and I had to pay about $40 to get the Gigabyte 770 OC'd. It was a perfect transition because I was having problems in some games with scaling and other just didn't support crossfirex at all, It was frustrating for sure. Pros: This card is quiet, cool and powerful. It looks good to. It is really all you would want in a graphics card. It locks in 60FPS on Arma3 ultra settings and has no problem with any of my other less intense games.

Cons: Not really a con but know that this card is big and heavy. I think they could've done something more with the fan housing as it is much larger than the PCB on which its mounted. Was skeptical when switching from MSI to gigabyte because I really loved my MSI AMD cards and they OC'd so well but this card really holds the reigns over that setup. I haven't gone past the factory overclock and really have no need to at this time.

Overall Review: I try to buy AMD over Nvidia but the mining craze really drove up the prices on the comparable AMD cards. I can't complain because I did get the best product at the best price.

MSI R7850 OC

MSI Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card R7850 Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC

Pros: -Fan efficiency -Fans nearly inaudible -easy to overclock -Low temps -High speeds -great price

Cons: -most of the programs on the CD that aren't drivers are garbage bloatware. Do not put anything but drivers and MSI afterburner from the CD on your computer.

Overall Review: I play a mod for Amra2 called DayZ which is horribly unoptimized. This means it eats up GPU and CPU processing power more than most games. With everything on the highest settings I tend to get some artifacts but my FPS is around 40-60. That is pretty good for a $175 card. The price seems to have went up considerably which makes me happy I bought at a good time. I love this card. It looks good, the fans a very quiet and efficient at keeping this thing very cool. I overclocked the core speed even further to 1150Mhz and the memory to 1500mhz. That was sort of difficult since MSI afterburner only allows you to overclock to a maximum of 1020. I had to download another program to be able to get those clock speeds. This card is fast and IMO the best card for the money when I was buying. In hindsight, I would have shopped around a bit more looking for something with 1GB because most people, including me, won't need more than that. If you want to save yourself a few dollars I would suggest you look into getting less memory. Great card, in a year or two when the price goes down I will buy another to crossfire.
