ASUS VG Series VG278H Black 27
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: -Fair cost for the functionalities and performance of the monitor
-built in 3D emitter is awesome
-built in speaker
-high contrast
-very bright
-3 input, VGA, DVI and HDMI 1.4
-height adjustable
-no issues using a PS3 to play 3D games on this monitor

Cons: -speaker are weak but also can't expect much from built in speakers on a monitor, at least there's a 3.5mm audio out
-control interface could be better

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor just for its 3D capabilities, it came with a built in 3d emitter with Nvidia 3D vision 2 active glasses which is awesome. I use my macbook plugged with a mini display to dvi converter and it works just fine. don't expect to use Bino or vlc to watch 3d movies from a macbook since the output rate is limited to 60hz. I use the VGA input on the monitor to use my old sony vaio and no problem there. with the HDMI input, i plugged my PS3 and using a 10$ high speed hdmi cable i bought on newegg, i have no problem running hdmi 1.4 to play my 3d games. crisis and call of duty runs in 3D without a problem, some slight flickering there and there but nothing major. sound is received and played by the monitor over hdmi without a problem either. the monitor is height adjustable which is rare and very awesome, i can have my 13" macbook pro right under the monitor and have a efficient dual screen set up without the screen form the macbook overlapping the asus monitor. Overall, very satisfied with the monitor, maybe 3 tiny dead pixels on the lower right corner but barely noticeable. Other people who have bought this monitor on newegg complained that they received defective products and had major issues getting it replaced, i got lucky i guess because mine got shipped without a problem and the whole unit has no defective parts.
