Xigmatek GIGAS Series CCC-MD26TA-U01 Black Aluminum MicroATX Desktop Computer Case
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

4 out of 5 eggs Great case for the price 09/14/2013

This review is from: Xigmatek GIGAS Series CCC-MD26TA-U01 Black Aluminum MicroATX Desktop Computer Case

Pros: Tons of capacity, can fit large video cards, many hard drives, etc.
USB 3.0 built into front panel
Solid manufacturing and smooth, rounded edges with good look, feel, and polish of the aluminum.
Cooling!

Cons: Slightly more difficult to work in compared to other cases out there, as this is one case that after getting everything installed you sure don't want to go back and upgrade components or troubleshoot hardware later on.

The power supply section should have screw holes for mounting power supplies in either directions, as my modular thermaltake supply has a nice large fan on the bottom that is useless with the bottom facing the outside.

Xigmatek's support is really bad. Seriously over a week has gone by since I emailed them with no response. And I called and left a voicemail and didn't receive a reply either.

Other Thoughts: Scored this case on sale and it is definitely worth it. Definitely pay attention to the ordering on assembling components, as after everything is assembled it is very difficult to go back in and make modifications. This is the first case I've used where I really would recommend typical users to read the manual.

Also newegg allow users to edit reviews! This is a followup to my original review. The originally complained issue about motherboard fitting has been fixed. The case appears to have stand offs for the motherboard, but it wasn't clear that additional stand offs have to be installed on top of those prior to installing the motherboard.

I loaded the system up when a Phenom II x6, 8GB Ram, AMD 7850 2GB, PCIe GB LAN card, Sound Blaster X-Fi, 4TB of SATA storage, 300GB of PATA storage, a Blu Ray burner, and a DVD burner.

Pros: Simple setup
Non-PS2 power cable!!!
Price
USB 3.0
Good passive cooling (therefore quiet)

Cons: Nothing really that I can think of

Other Thoughts: No need to remove the screws on the back, which I originally did thinking that I needed to but the whole tray just slid out without needing to remove those.

The fit could be improved in some small sections (the holes for screws for the add in cards appear to be too far away, I had to bend the brackets of my add on cards for holes to line up) - if it wasn't for this and the power supply item I would have given 5 eggs.
