Intel EXPI9301CTBLK Network Adapter 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45

5 out of 5 eggs more than expected 12/15/2012

This review is from: Intel EXPI9301CTBLK Network Adapter 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI-Express 1 x RJ45

Pros: At first I was unimpressed. CPU usage down about 2% and slightly lower system mem usage. Same results for speed and only about 10ms off latency tests. Ok but not awesome compared to my onboard RealTek, right? And then I put it through real world downloads/work. WOW! This is much better at negotiating among several tasks with large downloads/work in the background. Negotiation is where the real strength of this thing lies and it's .. WOW!

Cons: Wasn't too impressed with the test stats compared with onboard RealTek LAN. But who cares when real world performance is impressive.

Other Thoughts: Now a believer.

Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Not nearly as zippy as a true SSD but certainly far more capacity with better system startup speed vs a typical spinning HD.

Cons: Could have used more onboard solid state memory like the 750GB has. This only has 4GB vs the 8GB on the 750GB. For the money get the 750 so you have the 8GB of solid state.

4 out of 5 eggs bulky but gets it done 12/13/2012

This review is from: Cavalry EN-CAHDD2B-D 2.5" & 3.5" Black USB 2.0 2-Bay Hard Drive Dock w/ RAID

Pros: Works and gets the job done. No read/write issues. Flexible 2.5 and 3.5 support.

Cons: Bulky as all get out. This thing looks like a beast. Minus one star for "where do I put this thing".
