ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n

Pros: As listed before

Cons: As listed before

Other Thoughts: Basically I'm having a hell of a time staying connected to the 5GHz band. I've done factory resets, router reboots, computer reboots, driver reinstalls and anything else I can think of to boost the reliability of the 5GHz band but I think I'm now waiting for a firmware fix.

I have both bands (2.4 and 5) saved in my wireless network profiles. It seems like 50% of the time, when I try to connect to the 5GHz side, windows tells me that it is unable to connect but I can connect to the 2.4 side just fine. And thats only when I DO see that network's SSID. I can sit here and scan the local SSIDs and again 50% of the time, the 5GHz band doesn't even show up.

On the off chance that I do get connected, I don't touch anything but it seems like than 48 hours later, I've been kicked from the 5GHz band again.

FYI, I'm using the ASUS PCE-AC68 which should be the most compatible wireless adapter possible.

Very dissatisfied at this point. I spend more time attempting to fix this router than actually using the internet. I'm debating sending this extremely expensive device back for a replacement or refund.

ASUS PCE-AC68 Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Adapter IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n PCI Express Up to 600 and 1300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: - No unexpected problems
- Works as you would expect it to
- Neat wireless utility which performs the same functions as the Windows Network and Sharing Center which includes bonus options only found in the driver settings

Cons: - Nothing worth noting

Other Thoughts: Paired this guy with the RT-AC68U and I'm getting sustained speeds of 877.5 on the 5GHz band. I love the magnetic base, but the cable could stand to be a couple feet longer. I suppose you could always buy extensions for it.
