1 out of 5 eggs worthless 01/29/2011

This review is from: powercom BNT-1500AP 1500 VA 900 Watts 5 Outlets UPS

Pros: somewhat cheap - Made in USA; that is about it.

Cons: at 25% load the battery drains in less than 5 minutes (and that is on a unit less than 15 months old).
No USB port - needs serial cable: what modern computer comes with a serial port?

Other Thoughts: I paid $184 for this unit about 14 months ago (price is down to $140 now) and it was the biggest mistake I could have made when purchasing an UPS. At a 20 to 25% load the battery drains from 95% to 30% in less than 3 minutes. Do not be fooled by the "70-80 minutes backup time:" for that to happen you'll probably need to use a 25 watt power supply. Vendor support is basically non-existent (just check the powercom website); return and repair is a nightmare.
In the end, you get what you pay for: there is a reason why Cyberpower and APC cost twice as much....
This is junk - do not waste your money unless you plan to use this c*ap to power up a 20 watt light bulb for 30 minutes. Horrible product, horrible vendor service and support. Shame on Newegg for allowing 2nd hand vendors to sell junk products here....
