A very nice USB 3.0 drive
Pros: Very light, and very fast. Testing shows write speeds around 50-60MB/sec and read of 120MB/sec, in line with Mushkin's stated specifications. Downward compatible with USB 2.0, you do lose the speed but it allows you to be able to use it almost anywhere.
Cons: No real issues at all. It does get a little warm after use, but the casing helps in this respect.
Overall Review: I have several Mushkin USB drives, I have yet to be disappointed with any of them. When it comes to reliable devices, Mushkin has been winning hands down, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other users. Other drives: Mushkin Mullholland Drive 16GB, Mushkin Mullholland Drive 32GB. (And I love the pun/joke that Muskin used for naming these drives.)
Worked for a little while...
Pros: Drive worked fine for a few months, no real issues. Speeds were quite acceptable, able to store quite a bit of data.
Cons: Drive failed after a while, gave write-protected error. Turns out this is a common error with Corsair drives.
Overall Review: Would not recommend the drive (or any Corsair external USB device) until this issue is fixed and completely resolved.
DOA On Arrival
Pros: none
Cons: System board was DOA on arrival. Attempting to get a replacement, but uncertain if the replacement board will work.
Overall Review: Right now, I wouldn't recommend this system board. The Z87 and Z97 boards worked well, but the Z170 board was DOA with a replacement due sometime in the next two weeks.
Definitely worth it
Pros: Installed into a drive cage (with three other drives), formatted and recognized without a hitch. 6TB is definitely a worthwhile value, easy to work with.
Cons: No real issues noted so far.
Overall Review: This is a drive that's definitely worth getting, either as an internal drive (for a computer) or an external drive (as I have set up). No issues at all, it works and it's solid as it's name, IronWolf.
Not a bad board, but... there are issues.
Pros: Easy to set up. Plenty of options. Stable when working.
Cons: Not the latest BIOS on the motherboard. Possible issues there for some folks. MSI LiveUpdate software extremely buggy, stick with manual updates instead. USB issues (see other thoughts) Realtek sound not immediately recognized during installation.
Overall Review: Let me start off that the board is value packed. 8 SATA slots (one shared mSATA slot), lots of USB options. But... After a clean install of Windows 7, the USB ports are not properly recognized. What should be USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports show up as "Unknown Device" repeatedly, despite installing the latest Intel USB 3.0 drivers. These are the same drivers that work fine on a different system with the Intel USB chipset, so I have to suspect the issues are inherent to the motherboard (Google searches show multiple references to USB issues on MSI motherboards now for over a year). Ordered a USB 3.0 PCI-e card to alleviate the issue, but still... Aside from the USB port issue and the failure of Windows 7 to properly identify the Realtek sound controller, the board is a good one. No eSATA connector (installed a Marvell PCI-e SATA card for external array), but that's not necessarily a show stopper.
Good memory at a good price
Pros: 2 8GB modules, easy to install and configure, no issues so far
Cons: None noted.
Overall Review: I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 motherboard that recognized the memory without any incident. Voltage and speed were correctly recognized in BIOS. I can't speak for other motherboards, but the Gigabyte certainly doesn't have any issues with it.
