This review is from: Rosewill - Pellucid HD Series High Speed HDMI Cable - 6 Feet
Pros: Works and is pretty inexpensive
Cons: TV isn't doubling as a monitor very well (colors washes out; lacks resoution) but probably a problem with TV model I got and not the cable. I didn't want to spend much on the TV.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: FarStone Technology, Inc. VirtualDrive Pro 14 - 3 users
Pros: I've purchased versions 6, 8, 11, and 14 as well as other Farstone software. Versions 6, 8, and 11 were good. Why? These previous versions actually worked. Too bad they don't on Win7.
Cons: Version 14 is a complete disappointment. A complete disappointment. Where do I start?!
1. Software hogs memory and throws low memory errors like you wouldn't believe. I run Win7/3GB. "Inserting" anything throws a "low memory" error and occasionally crashes. When it chooses to run, it was slower than my 8x DVD...then it crashes. What's the point?!
2. The installation is cumbersome. Before, you could just pop in and go. Now, they've adopted the MS-like install scheme.
3. If you were stupid enough like me to pay $10 for a "media copy", expect it to be the same 40 MB file burned onto a generic $0.09 CD-R and being charged $10. To top it off, it looks like some kid did it in their garage. If I wanted a CD that has a shelf life of 2 years, I would have done it myself. When I pay $10, I expect something with a little more shelf life and a case. what a rip off.
4. Tech support doesn't exist. I emailed them, this is what they wrote (cont. in other thoughts)
Other Thoughts: "I will forward your inquiry to the design team. Unfortunately, we do not control the designs of both the physical and digital product in the US branch. I apologize for the inconvenience.
FarStone Technology, Inc."
And....radio silence. I'm still waiting for their "design team" to get back to me...and waiting...and waiting. It's been about 2 weeks now.
Well, I guess that was a $50 lesson...that Farstone isn't what it used to be. I'll go with one of their many competitor's products next time. A couple supports more formats than VCD.
This review is from: Transcend 8GB microSDHC Flash Card Model TS8GUSDHC6
Pros: none whatsoever
Cons: Started losing data when I was taking WEDDING PHOTOS! So much for quality and reliability when it counts. Tried using data recovery software, etc. Couldn't get the data out. So I reformatted, gave it the benefit of the doubt, and tried again. Again, data lost. Did this 5 times (reformat w/ computer, w/ camera, etc.) and finally had enough.
This is unacceptable since I only used this about a dozen times. Flash are supposed to handle 100k rewrites and this has a lifetime warranty. I tried contacting Transcend for an RMA twice. Nothing but auto response email. So much for lifetime warranty. Newegg was great, as always, but this was beyond the return period for Newegg. Instead, I had to rely on this fake warranty. I think I'll stay with the other top brands instead.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. DON'T EXPECT TECH SUPPORT OR ANY SUPPORT FROM TRANSCEND.
