Acer Aspire One AOA110-1626 Onyx Black Intel Atom N270(1.60 GHz) 8.9
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix and it just flies. Keyboard just feels right. Screen is nice and crisp. Speakers work good enough. It is great to take to conferences. It gets a lot of looks.

Cons: No bluetooth. Linpus Linux by default. Under Ubuntu and Cheese, taking pictures is fine, but recording video does not work.

Other Thoughts: Small, Stylish, Linux = great. In fact I have stopped using my desktop and just use it most of the time

ASUS WL-520gU 802.11b/g Wireless Router up to 54Mbps with All-in-One Print Server/ DD-WRT Open Source support

  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: It was easy to setup. Just plugged it in and it worked. Linux liked it just fine.

Cons: The only con is the filtering. I want to be able to ssh from my office to my local box. The router allowed me to direct incoming ssh requests to a specific computer like it should, but I can not figure out how to tell the router to only allow access from my office. My office has a static ip address and I still can not figure out how to setup the filters.

Other Thoughts: It looks nice, it was easy to setup, it was cheap, newegg had it to me in two days, what is not to like.

  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Price, Plug-and-Play under Ubuntu Hardy Heron, Good Strength!

Cons: None that I can find.

Other Thoughts: It has not gotten hot like some others have said. I am using the USB extension cable, that may make a difference on the device.
