This review is from: G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Memory for Apple Model FA-1333C9D-16GSQ
Pros: Ran Memtest in single-user mode (command+s on bootup) overnight, no errors. Today, adjusted my multiple virtual servers and fired them up... they run smooth as pudding.
Cons: None at this time.
Other Thoughts: Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15" 2.0Ghz + G.SKILL ram is a great combo. I strongly suggest a memtest. Much cheaper getting this 16GB than 8GB at the Apple store.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It's the Photoshop for everyone else. Tons of YouTube tutorials to make you better with it. Plugin support from Topaz Laps (get the bundle! sure it will cost more than the product, but great results)
Cons: I got the package as a deal after or around xmas. If it was priced that way all the time, it would be worth it. Interface is not bad, but could be better. Crashes on the Mac sometimes after an update check.
Other Thoughts: Use on both a Windows 7 desktop and a MacBook Pro. Adobe lets you put it on both platforms. Again, the Topaz Labs plugins will add POP to your photos. The bundle costs more than PS Elements, but wow, they do work great. As far as Premiere Elements goes, I only use it once on Windows. It's okay, I prefer iMovie on the MacBook.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: VANGUARD Alta Pro 264AT Aluminum Alloy Tripod - No Head
Pros: I upgraded from a Manfrotto 190XB series to this. I paired it with a Vangaurd ballhead (SBH-250) and am really enjoying the angles I use accomplish with this very stable tripod. Roughly 5 lbs with the head attached, not bad for an aluminum tripod. Tripod has a level and with a few twists, spiked feet. This one will last me for years to come. Very pleased with it.
Cons: Bag that comes with it seems to fit the legs fine. Add a SBH-250 ballhead and no matter what it is sticking up past the bag. Not a dealbreaker. Vanguard suggested the Alta+ Bag 70 for this setup and it is very affordable based on what they told me.
Manfrotto legs worked at one more angle, but I never used it... Mentioning it as others may.
Other Thoughts: Exteneding the legs is a little tough... Should wear in time. Pretty sure my Manfrotto struggled from this all those years back.
Quickplate system on Vanguard heads is a little different, not better, but not worse than Manfrotto quick release system. Has one advantage and that is a slider and lock that can help with balance. If you need a tripod, this is the one to get. Check other review sites. It's amazing.
