Lenovo 70A69003NA Diskless System Iomega ix2 Network Storage 2-bay

5 out of 5 eggs A superb value 10/22/2013

This review is from: Lenovo 70A69003NA Diskless System Iomega ix2 Network Storage 2-bay

Pros: Lenovo/EMC/iomega packed a ton of features into this NAS. Yes, its branded as Lenovo, has iomega StorCenter guts, and EMC client software. It ends up being a perfect mix for home or small business use. Supports many popular cloud providers for off-site storage should you need additional data protection.

Be sure to check the Lenovo Storage support site to find out which HDDs are approved for use with the ix2 before purchasing so that you will be guaranteed support throughout your warranty period.

I used 2 Seagate ST3000VN000 3TB NAS drives in a RAID 1 (mirrored for redundancy) configuration and ended up with about 2.8TB of usable storage. For me the initial configuration occurred in 3 phases that were easily monitored from the System Status dashboard: (RAID Creation, Data Protection reconstruction, Data Protection verification). The process took between 15-20hrs to complete and obviously performance is impacted some during that time. After completion, the performance normalized and it has been rock-solid since. HD streaming over my wireless network to my Xbox 360 is extremely smooth with no lag. The unit has excellent help documentation and can essentially be configured to be as simple or as full-featured as you need it to be.

Cons: Automatic Media Scanning has been a bit spotty. If newly added shared media does not appear in my remote media players (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3), I have found that disabling and re-enabling Media Sharing on the ix2 does the trick. A minor annoyance depending on how often you add new media to your collection.

RCA DRC255N DVD Player

5 out of 5 eggs Excellent value! 09/18/2006

This review is from: RCA DRC255N DVD Player

Pros: Package includes an HDMI cable as well as an HDMI->DVI cable. Upconversion switches between 420p, 720p, and 1080i.

Cons: None so far besides a subpar manual. People are mentioning the fact that there is an HDMI button on the remote that you must use to swap between resolution modes, but I don't really find that to be a big deal thus far.

Other Thoughts: Buying the 2 included cables individually at CC or BB will cost you around the same amount as this whole package cost me here on Newegg. Again, its a superb value for the money.

ABS NW-200-USB Wireless 802.11g Adapter IEEE 802.11g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: +Good range for such a small antenna chip.
+ABS provides very easy setup. It took no longer than a minute and a half.
+I received a much improved connection/link quality over the Linksys W54USB adapter I was using before.

Cons: +A larger antenna would help range, but I mean this thing is advertised as a MINI USB adapter.

Other Thoughts: Most cost effective option I've found out there. Enjoy!
