This review is from: SYBA SI-PCI40074 SATA III (6.0Gb/s) 1:5 (5x1) Internal SATA II Port Multiplier (PM)
Pros: I bought these to replace SATA 1.5g PCI controllers I was previously using for my fileserver with a software RAID. Everything went very very well with one exception, but I am not certain if it is the cards fault or a problem with a particular seagate hard drive.
Writing to a software raid using one card, I get about 55MB/s over the network.
Cons: I ran into an issue where one of the ports did not appear to be working, eventually found that a particular Seagate hard drive I was using did not work in that one port, swapped ports and all five ports and hard drives worked fine. Unknown if this is a hard disk fault or an issue with this card.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I have six of these drives in a fileserver running in a software RAID 5. These are very power efficient drives and perfect for serving files over the network. Yes, they are not speedy, but they are fast enough, plus the LAN speeds are the limit your concerned with anyways.
Cons: None really
Other Thoughts: I've had four of these drives for almost a year with no issues of reliability. My fileserver stays up 24/7 and the drives are constantly 'on'.READ FULL REVIEW
