This review is from: Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II Floorstanding Loudspeaker (Black) Single
Pros: These speakers are great, they have a surprising amount of clean low end response for the size of the woofers in them! My old speakers were a junk set from a neighbor and I used to enable fake surround sound in everything to make it sound better, but now, just having 2 of these as the main stereo speakers is immaculate.
Great sound clarity and decible for the price!
Cons: High end in the 15k+ can tend to be a little shaky up at higher db levels, you can occasional hear a small amount of distortion and or noise from the tweeter if you listen carefully.
Other Thoughts: I run sound by trade and have listened to many systems in my life, including stereo sets worth $10,000 or more, while these may not truly compare in clarity and crispness they are certainly a wonderful set that works very well for home use with a budget!READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 6-bay (diskless) w/ 3 yr warranty
Pros: Hot swap drive bays, software X-raid 2 is pretty cool, allowing you to expand the RAID without having to do a full re-build. Firmware lets you do a decent amount of ad-ons and access control.
Cons: This is NOT a user friendly beginner NAS, just to get it set up requires knowing how to perform a factory reset, as well as most add ons require php and other forms of scripting usage.
Firmware stability is HORRIBLE. I've owned this for 3 months and the firmware has corrupted on me twice by just sitting there running. Netgear support is USELESS I had a ticket open with them for 1.5 months and I finally ended up fixing the corrupt OS myself by doing a full factory reset (wipes all data in the raid).
There is NO built in monitoring software that will tell you how the cpu and ram are being used, who is accessing what, or anything outside of current temp and SMART status of your drives. There is some monitoring software in the ad-ons but good luck getting them to work.
Other Thoughts: If your looking for a very simplistic NAS to just to local network file sharing and storage, aside from the corrupting core firmware, the box is great. It's small, quiet and energy efficient. But if your looking to do anything more with your NAS, whether it be VPN, FTPS, or DLNA streaming, stay away, it is capable of FTP and DLNA but both crash all the time, and no firmware updates are available for fixes, as well as mentioned before, Netgear support is useless when it comes to fixing it.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Powerful card, heat sink only so super quiet, HDMI out, hooks up to TV and does 1080p video no prob.
Cons: Whoever designed this was high or something. It is sold as a low-profile ready card, which is it...and isn't....the pins for the VGA connector stick up above the low profile clip, there for if your ever putting it in a true low profile case (like a Dell or desktop case) it will not fit with the cover on unless you bend or clip the pins off (making the VGA connector useless...but who uses them anyways).
Other Thoughts: The card itself is good, the design as far as low profile is inconceivably idiotic.READ FULL REVIEW
