Good
Pros: Pretty good setup for the price. Onboard is decent (for onboard), runs old Counter-Strike 1.6 but had to turn smoke grenades on low setting to reduce frame skipping. Pop in an 8600GT or better and you have a nice gaming machine.
Cons: Setup took a LONG time to boot Windows fresh from the box. It's normal to take a little longer to boot, but I'm talking 5 minutes. This isn't a big deal, but it got the person I got this for kind of disappointed in its performance.
Overall Review: Nice looks.... Got this with the ACER 19" WIDESCREEN and they work great together. IF YOU WANT TO PLAY GAMES, LOOK INTO BUYING A VIDEO CARD (8600GT is the best bang for the buck at around 99 dahra.)
LONG USE, POOR DESIGN(IDE CABLE), BUT EASY FIX.
Pros: 1) Clear stand lights up Blue from hidden LED light... very cool, unknown addition.... 2)Easy removal of screws to place hard drive.
Cons: 1 inch IDE cable is POORLY MADE! About the 8th time I swapped a HDD out, the cable literally fell apart into 3 pieces to where I couldn't even put it back together (I am careful, and can make cat5 cable) ... the plastic support broke caused this(poor design) so plan on buying some VERY SHORT IDE cables to replace the one that it comes with..... OH and the very small cramped space gets hot after long use.
Overall Review: After reformatting and swapping hard drives, I now have to wait to get a 1 inch IDE cable before I can retrieve my music and such... kinda sucks. Worth the money, but I'm sure there are better ones now. Look around on the newegg!
Sound probs, other than that it's OK.
Pros: Hasn't fried on me after a few months... that's good. Arctic Cooling 7 Pro fits w/o touching northbridge.
Cons: Sound only comes out of the left channel... read more about it below. I can't overclock still, but what do you expect for such a low price? Also, I cannot view my CPU temps for some reason with any temp programs... shows up in the BIOS though at least.
Overall Review: I wrote a review before on this board... just want to say that after a couple of months, the onboard sound only outputs the left channel (making most songs sound unfinished, gaming is subpar now also). I doubled checked this problem with a different set of speakers and the sound still comes out of the left speaker only. Right will fade back in randomly for about a day but has been left only for a while now. I have tried everything troubleshooting the problem...no luck. I might use this old SB Live! card I have to give me better sound quality replacement anyhow. Buyer beware! Pentium D 805 Dual Core Arctic Cooling 7 Pro Heatsink (it fits on this motherboard) 1GB Geil PC3200 DDR400 XFX 6600GT 160GB WD IDE
Not too shabby!
Pros: Cheap price, onboard video to hold me over, supports my old Geil DDR400, supports my Pentium D and Core 2 Duo's for future upgrade. So far after a few hours of testing, it runs quick and stable! Also, it's mATX if you are looking for a small mobo.
Cons: 2 slots per ram type, onboard video kinda sucks. High temps with stock Intel cooling sucks as well. ECS supposedly has poor support... if they reply. ):
Overall Review: Running a Pentium D 805 (2.66Ghz) Dual-core, temps are a bit high on stock Intel cooling. With 1GB DDR400, I can play Flatout 2 on ALL low settings @ 640x480x16 on the onboard video. When I tried to play. When I attempted to test Wolfenstein: ET, it played for 5 minutes on the same max-low settings and completely locked up. That being said, I wouldn't rely on this onboard video for gaming so you better pick up at least a pci-e video card. Good thing for me, I already have a 6600GT on it's way :)
9700 Pro replacement....
Pros: -Fits tight -Works good -Looks good on my 9700 Pro
Cons: -Slight pain to install
Awesome! Dropped 25 degrees!
Pros: -My P4 3.0Ghz dropped 25F+ degrees using this replacing my stock Intel heatsink. This is probably the best bang for your buck replacement heatsink.
Cons: -A little heavy, but that really doesn't matter. -NO INSTRUCTIONS
Overall Review: If you have a stock heatsink for your P4, I recommend getting this if you are tight on cash. Definitely makes your computer run better.
