Pros: 16MB Cache, 2.5" Size, 500GB
Cons: 5400 RPM, Sata 3.0GB/s and not 6.0GB/s
Other Thoughts: Knowing the rpm for this drive and the medium size cache it has its still a reliable drive. I first put it in my notebook to see how it would work out and though it seems to be steady it is for sure a noticeable difference in the seek, read, and write department as compared to a 7200 rpm with 64MB cache. That being said my main reason for this was to put it into a security system for video surveilance. After putting it into my security system DVR and setting up a 4 camera system it seems to work very well for that purpose. My system comes with auto detection and an app for my android phone so that the only time the recording is done is when a motion detector senses movement within the area i have designated, once it starts recording it automatically sends a signal to my android phone with a message saying security system has been activated, i can then click my android app for a live feed from my security system to my android and in real time i can see what has set off the motion sensor, and view live video. As far as the results this hard drive seems to work very well for this purpose which is what its designed for, the recording and playback of video on this drive is very clear and seems to have no lag at all. When i go home to see what video has been recorded and play back its crystal clear with no lines, blurs, or skipping in the video. For video surveilance this drive is a very good purchase, reliable, and runs cool and quiet.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The 2 TB size of this is great, the speed is pretty good also as far as read and write, its quiet and stays cool. This drive is still better suited as a secondary drive for storage because of its size or even regular use but if your really wanting performance for games and such i would find a different drive, this is just not going to perform like a ssd, or a 7200rpm or 10000 rpm drive. it does however give the same score of 5.9 in the windows index rating as my seagate 750 gb hybrid drive on a windows 8 64 bit system.
Cons: Better if kept cool for lasting performance, intellipower was never very impressive for me,
Other Thoughts: This drive if used in an external enclosure will last the longest probably, if used just for storage this is a great deal as far as capacity and price.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Light weight, slim style, large cache.
This is a good drive for the price and size of it and the positive results of a hybrid drive also. After running the test software on this drive i was impressed. I also have a Seagate Solid State Hybrid 750gb Momentus which is very similar to this Seagate Hybrid 500 gb but this drive actually ended up with better results. I cloned my 750 GB drive onto this 500GB drive so they were identical for testing other then the actual size of the drive. This Seagate ST500LM000 out performed my Seagate ST750LX003 very easily in the Random Seek +RW 36mbs to 4mbs and in the sequential write 88mbs to 60mbs then in the sequential read it out performed 84mbs to 69mbs for an overall test score of 747 to 525 over the Seagate 750 GB Hybrid Drive. Very Good Drive for the money.
Cons: Isn't a 1 TB drive !!!!
Other Thoughts: Wish it was a SSD instead of a Hybrid Drive.READ FULL REVIEW
