Pros: Great specs for a motherboard, BIOS features galore. The backside LCD displays what its doing during start up so you can troubleshoot during build. Buttons for start, reset and clear CMOS are on the motherboard so you don't need to keep using your case button to start up during build. Also, coming from someone with a 4-5 year old PC prior to this, the SATA drivers are wonderful. No need to have floppies or drivers handy when installing Windows on a SATA drive.
Cons: Price is steep, maybe not worth it in all cases. The heat pipes for the northbridge and friends feels constricting when buying a third party heatsink for your processor. I've seen pictures of the Tuniq Tower fitting, but not all solutions will fit. Also, BIOS update app for Windows seems to cause more bricked boards than updated BIOS; stick to updating BIOS from the BIOS utility.
Other Thoughts: I bought open box, which was as much a pain as a blessing. Be wary when buying open box, I didn't get any accessories--not even a sound card or back I/O plate.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: This thing is unbelievably fast. Runs the newest games at 1600x1200 at least 30 fps, usually higher. Factory overclocked for an edge over the normal 8800s and the huge heatsink/fan combo is appealing to the eye and seems to get the job done.
Cons: The card is HUGE! Be absolutely sure it'll fit in your case. I had to mod my Lian Li S80-B to fit the card in. It can also restrict air flow and makes it hard to play with the other components. The card is also incredibly hot. In a hot room, the card can idle in the 70s (celsius) at stock settings. For some unknown reason, the fan only runs at 20% at idle. You almost HAVE to run a third party app to set your own fan rules--I'd recommend a straight 100% all the time, though this can be a bit loud. If you don't set fan rules, expect game crashes and the card to turn itself off from time to time--especially under Vista.
Other Thoughts: I know the cons is long, but if you're getting this card you should be well equiped to deal with them. This is the card for high end gamers and is well worth the price, despite some of the annoyances of the card.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The board is feature rich! The back LCD display tells you whats wrong with the setup during build. There are also some service lights and the BIOs have a number of nice features.
Cons: Make sure you read ASUS's forums before buying this card. The whole forum is a horror story of how this board is unreliable! BIOs updates are few and far between. Overall, the board isn't worth the money.
Other Thoughts: I bought this board open box. I got NOTHING but the main board. No rear I/O faceplate or PCI-E 1x sound adaptor. DON'T BUY OPEN BOX!READ FULL REVIEW
