Cooler Master V8 GTS - High Performance CPU Cooler with Horizontal Vapor Chamber and 8 Heatpipes
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Cools very well. Large 8 pipe cooling solution. Probably the best looking air cooling solution available. But key on large and Heavy. Please watch the video and consider before buying. Also, its almost a must for full size tower for clearance.

Cons: Size. Can't say enough about size. Helps dissipate heat well, but, its easy to not realize how big it really will be. Weight should also be a concern. You would not want to mount this, then ship a system anywhere. ALSO Make sure support on bottom of mother board is very good, and i would recommend on not using a "thin" system board with it. Many cheaper boards are much thinner than more expensive ones, and I would worry about it. Next, Clearence for side panel. I have a full tower case and it still comes very close to side when closed. a MINI case is out, and i'm not to sure about mid size towers either. Again, measure before you buy. also, I have the earlier version, and the fan in it did die some time ago. And it was not used that much. I would have expected better with the cooler price but, i have yet to find very good led lit fans, that last several years.

Other Thoughts: If I were to get another cooler for the Looks, I would buy this one first! I also had a great looking Asus cooler, that is no longer available. But without a doubt, I love the look of this cooler, and it performs wonderfully. I have been using this in one build or another for almost 4 years now. Without overclock you almost don't even need a fan on it. If your going to have a Hunk of Metal sitting on top of your computer system, might as well have it look like the best one there is!

Pros: Working Flawlessly so far. Powering a MSI 890FX, 2 ATI 4870x2 Video cards, and 7 Hard drvies. I believe the components appear to be able to handle the rating, onlike another brand I had rated at 1000watts. This one its capacitors and Choaks look beefy enough to handle the rated load. I can't say that about many others I considered before purchasing one.

Cons: None so far. I have no complaints about the unit at all.

Other Thoughts: Just as I mentioned above. The parts look up to the rated wattage, adiquate 12 volt rails. My other failed, i believe due to not enough 12v rails or wattage on the sata rails. When I started to overclock, the old one failed. This one is perfect so far.

Pros: So far, No issues Running on a Pci-E x8 LSI Megaraid Controller. I have 4 set up in a raid 5 array. So far, No issues at all that I have experienced. No drops at all so far. Its the Megaraid 8888

Cons: None so far. Using in a hardware raid array, and no drop outs so far. I did have to enable Cached I/O on the controller card to install windows 7, as opposed to Direct i/o ( the default). But these have been running great. Seems very fast.

Other Thoughts: The array seems very fast to me. I have copied over a few hundred gig to the array, and it went very quickly. Fastest Transfer rates I have ever had. I don't have any benchmarks though... sorry. But all in all, very good so far. Possibly the HardWare Raid controller resolving the issues others had in raid arrays?
