Silicon Power S80 CDM Read 480MB/s Write 360MB/s Toggle MLC 2.5

Pros: I got tired of my HD thrashing around and needed to reload everything anyway so decided to give this a try. My system is just old enough to have the Sata2 onboard but still very fast. Main thing is to remember to partition and format these before trying to install your operating system. Also if not already done go into Bios and activate Ahci or you will not realize the full potential of these drives.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for $89, happy about that.

GIGABYTE GA-A75M-S2V FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
  • neweggOwned For: less than 1 day

Pros: I can't believe the people that are giving this board a bad review because the graphics don't work. It does not have onboard graphics, get a graphics card or CPU that has the graphics built in. The available graphic ports on the board are meant to be used with CPU that has integrated graphics built in, some peoples kids, sheesh.

Cons: People that post bad reviews and don't know what they're talking about.

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb Quad-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM2+ 125W HDZ940XCJ4DGI Processor

Pros: It's fast...

Cons: Not as overclockable as you might think. Seems to be a grab bag whether you get 125 or 140W CPU.

Other Thoughts: PC Wizard reports this as a 140W CPU and I think I believe it. Was idling way to hot, using AOD I reduced the voltage to 1.2 and got the 125W that it is supposed to be. Loaded 100% no core goes over 52º C and idles at 37º C. No overclock running at 3GHz it came with. Sunbeam Core Contact CPU cooler does a good job on this along with Arctic Cooling MX3 Thermal Paste. Better than that way overrated silver stuff that can short out things.
