This review is from: StarTech 1 Port PCI Express IDE Controller Adapter Card
Pros: This adapter works exactly like it should. I used it to attach my all-time-favorite (IDE) DVD burner to a motherboard that only has SATA ports. Device Manager in 64-bit Windows 7 correctly identifies the DVD drive manufacturer, model, and it's firmware. I have two other optical drives attached to the same mobo via SATA, plus 2 hard drives via SATA.
Cons: takes up a PCI Express slot.
Other Thoughts: have previously tried the SATA to IDE adapters that attach directly to the IDE connector on the back of an IDE drive. they work, but Device Manager in Windows is not able to detect what drive is attached.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SIIG USB 3.0 4-Port PCIe i/e Model JU-P40212-S1
Pros: Works just like it should. When I attach a USB 3.0 external hard drive via the ports on this card, data transfer is much faster than with the 2.0 ports on my computer.
Cons: can't think of any.
Other Thoughts: Another quality item from SIIG.
I'm using this with 64-bit Windows 7, Intel DH55HC desktop board, Core i5-650 CPU.
I used the drivers from the TI website, mentioned in another review.
Pros: Nice enclosure. Well-built and sturdy. Works perfectly. Assembly instructions are printed on the outside of the box. Assembly with supplied parts was straightforward and solid. I installed a 2.5" SATA II 320GB Seagate drive that came from a failed enclosure I had. Activity LED changes colors to indicate current status. I thought the USB cord might be kind-of short, but it works out fine.
Cons: wasn't available in black.
Other Thoughts: This is a quality item. My first experience with this brand.READ FULL REVIEW
