Definite Improvement
Pros: Definite improvement over the non-hybrid ST9750420AS
Cons: Price Quite high-hope its temporary
Overall Review: Installed into a Lenovo X201. I already had the Seagate non-hybrid ST9750420AS inside. So It was easy to compare by putting the old drive in the SATA holder in the base and booting from each to check the Win 7 64bit load times. They are 42 seconds in the old, 28 sec in the hybrid drive (to logon) Loading of the startup programs seems extremely fast, and the tray fills up nearly instantly with icons upon boot. Not sure if its worth the $$ but may buy and SSD for the desktop also. Pretty sure the X201 is SATA II so not using that enhancement.
Junk
Pros: None
Cons: Bought this to upgrade my Lenovo X201 to 8GB from 4. Started getting BSOD's within a couple of weeks. Ran Memtest 86+ v4.20 (its still running as we speak) up to 7 bad memory addresses (so far). Who needs this?
Overall Review: Good memory is worth the extra cost. Look elsewhere.
Excellent, Basic Workhorse
Pros: Very attractive product. Basic but functional. Fine for Office, Quickbooks, e-mail and browsing. Large enough, high quality display and keyboard make separate units unnecessary, saving $$$ for the office. Good desktop replacement.
Cons: Plastic construction is very atractive but somewhat flimsy. That said build quality is first-rate (so not much of a con really)
Overall Review: Cheap, basic but capable for ordinary tasks. Have bought at least 3 so far.
Excellent Product
Pros: Very easy setup; works well, does not drop wireless signal. Reliable so far. Strong signal reaches up two floors.
Cons: I should have bought this sooner. I put up with a Linksys wireless router far too long. Its sudden, periodic failure had me going back to their mediocre tech support time and again until they asked me to pay for help with a useless product that I owned for less than a year! Goodbye Linksys!
Overall Review: Just works. Feature rich (2 USB etc.,)
Nice Product
Pros: Well made, attractive in a minimalist way. No frills. Works well. Inexpensive, but not cheaply made.
Cons: Settings of the elevated laptop base are redundant, but allow good selection of angles & heights. Because it is constructed from heavy gauge bent wire, it is not exactly flat on the bottom. This and the lack of rubber feet means it slides around easily on a smooth table top. However this is easily solved...
Overall Review: Solved the sliding around issue by cutting several lengths of latex tubing and sliding them on the base. PERFECTLY fits the Lenovo X201 and similar sized laptops. No fan but who cares? Gets the laptop up to the height of nearby large monitor for some dual-screen goodness.
Nothing But Headaches
Pros: Gigabit ethernet. Good Wireless range when it works
Cons: Mysteriously fails from time to time and needs to be reset. Poor setup software that assumes 192.168.1.1 period. Must have computer set to that range to setup
Overall Review: Completely unreliable even after firmware upgrade. Mysteriously fails and must be reset to factory defaults requiring a compter to be allocated to do such on a 192.168.1.XX network. Software prevents direct interaction with the router during setup. Try finding the factory default password... Linksys has gone down the tubes since Cisco took over.
