Pros: Great performance when working.
Cons: Quality and 'service'
Other Thoughts: Card was DOA but by the time I noticed I had already recycled the box. I built a number of PCs per week and my office would be full if I kept them all for the full 30-day return period. Once I got the PC up and running and noticed the card was bad, I contacted NE for an RMA. They shipped me out a replacement which worked fine, quick GPU. I then immediately returned the original card in the new box. A week later NE contacts me to let me know that they cannot accept the return without the original box which is ridiculous and recommended I reach out to PowerColor for additional assistance.
PC was less than helpful. Their RAM/Tech support department is one guy so it took me two hours of calling to get ahold of him, he was on lunch. He then said there was nothing he could do but exchange the card which is of no help to me since I already have the replacement installed in my client's computer now a state away. After asking to speak with his manager, he said he was the manager and had no boss. Quite ridiculous so I hung up and called back to speak with the operator. The operator was unfortunately no help. She was running around in circles to not give me Raymond’s manager’s name or contact information. She first said he was travelling, then she said he was in sales, then she said he wasn’t in sales but they all work closely together, then she said she didn’t know who his manager was because she wasn’t in that department. Just absurd. I looked up their parent company in Taiwan [TUL - firstname.lastname@example.org] and sent an email explaining the situation and asking for their assistance. We will see if they are able to help.
RMAs are ALWAYS such a pain with NE. I spend $10,000+ / month on computer components and am sticking with A-m-a-z-o-n and the like from now on. A-m-a-z-o-n's customer service and RMA process are 100% better than NewEgg's. This is the last time I go through a challenging/bad experience with NE. NewEgg and PowerColor have both lost a solid customer.
This review is from: Actiontec SCREENBEAM PRO Wireless Display Receiver SBWD100A-01 HDMI Interface
Pros: Small, inexpensive. Ok for an extended desktop for relatively still actions such as browsing the internet or spreadsheets.
Cons: Jittery playback, lagged sound, not good for video, games, or other "movement" on displays. Poor actiontec technical and customer service.
Other Thoughts: I purchased this device to pair with my brand new, ultra high performance [Intel core i7, dual Samsung 840 SSDs in RAID 0, NVidia GeForce gtx 670 graphics with 2GB dedicated video mem, 8GB high perf RAM [2x4 sticks for dual channel], Intel AC wireless at 866Mbs, etc.] so I could broadcast HD movies from my laptop to my TV without having to plus in HDMI cables and using a wireless keyboard. While setup was pretty easy once all the current software, drivers, and firmware were added; video and games both display lagged and jittery video and audio which appears to be dropped frames and latent audio streaming. I tried troubleshooting on my own, increasing the buffer in MP, perf tuning my WiFi settings, etc. to no prevail. I then tried working with Actiontec technical service who was no help and blamed it on wireless interference. None of my other wireless streaming devices exhibit any lag or dropped data and I have also used wireless sniffing tools to 'rate' and detect any interference coming out at 100% clear connectivity. All the while the video and audio play perfectly smooth on my laptop even when duplicating screens. Also, there is no power switch and if your setup supports HDMI power control like mine does so I don't have to turn on 3-4 devices each time I watch TV, this device keeps your TV on ALL THE TIME, or until you unplug it. Poor manufacturer service, poor product performance, skip it.READ FULL REVIEW
