Best Headset I've Had

SteelSeries Siberia V2 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Full-Size Gaming Headset - Black
SteelSeries Siberia V2 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Full-Size Gaming Headset - Black

Pros: Comfortable: This headset sits very well on your head and is not heavy at all. The circumaural pads conform very well to your head, and it never feels tight or uncomfortable. Sound Quality: These are no studio grade headphones, but given the price point and intended audience, the sound these put out is amazing. His and Lows are very clear, though they are slightly lacking in Bass, but that is to be expected from an unamplified set of headphones. The V2 handles multiple sound sources very well, and music comes through as crisp and clean as I have heard from a headset in this price range (< $100). Mic Quality: The microphone quality is outstanding, my voice comes through very clear. The boom mic seems to be able to take considerable abuse, I've had this headset for well over a year and it has never broken or shown any signs of doing so. The only issues I have with it is the static noise transmitted. It's very quiet and inaudible when I am speaking. The problem is likely interference from the soundcard, and not the headset. Overall Reliability: I have been brutal to this headset, it has gone with my to LAN parties, in and out of bags dozens of times over the past year. I have ran over the cord with my chair at least 100 times (see other comments) and have had no split wires or breaks in the cable.

Cons: Mic Mute: The mic mute switch on the cord doesn't actually mute input from the mic, it just brings it down to a very low volume. I can honestly say the only time I muted the mic was when I was testing it, so this isn't worth taking off an egg in my opinion. Surround: 2.1 Headphones cannot do true surround. This headset attempts to do it, but there are physical limitations that prevent that from happening. Do not listen to any manufacturer, if you want true surround sound, you'll need to get headsets with multiple speakers and dedicated sub-woofers, and you will pay significantly more for those, and they are terrible for listening to music.

Overall Review: The cable length of this headset is incredibly long. 9.8 feet is longer than nearly every other headset out there. I had to run it through some holes on my desk to keep me from constantly rolling over it. Not a con at all, I realize a lot of people need the length, just be aware of it! I had RAZER Carcharias prior to this headset, and there is no competition. This headset defeats the Carcharias in every way, especially reliability wise. If you are in the market for a good headset, get this one. It is more comfortable, has more room for your ears if you have big ears like me, the mic quality is about the same, sound quality is superior on the V2, and the reliability of the V2 is leaps and bounds above the Carcharias. Even with it's protected cable I had a split wire within two months on the Carcharias. That split mixed with the fact that I found the Carcharias generally uncomfortable caused me to buy this headset, and I am glad I did.

Most Critical Review

Great sound - Flimsy

Psyko Carbon Surround Sound PC Gaming Headset with Precise Directional Audio for Instant Positional Awareness
Psyko Carbon Surround Sound PC Gaming Headset with Precise Directional Audio for Instant Positional Awareness

Pros: These things sound great. They have great levels and are genuinely good sounding head phones. I loved them at first.

Cons: Heavy - unless you are used to having heavy objects on your head, be prepared for a neck workout. FLIMSY - The headband snapped in less than 6 months. For $200 I'd expect these things to last, but they do not. Strongly advise you do not buy.

Excellent RAM

CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M4X1866C9
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M4X1866C9

Pros: 6 months of ownership, no major problems. Running XMP with a 3930 on Sabertooth X79.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Overall Review: XMP has caused issues a couple of times, and I had to go in and reset it. I haven't been able to nail down the cause of the crashes, though I can just reset the XMP profile in BIOS and it works fine for however long. I honestly haven't looked into the problem enough to count it as a con, especially since it could be the CPU or MOBO causing the issue.

Amazing GPU

EVGA GeForce GTX 690 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 04G-P4-2690-KR
EVGA GeForce GTX 690 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card 04G-P4-2690-KR

Pros: This card by itself smashes every game I throw at it. I easily break 100FPS in most games, with only Planetside 2 (60-100fps) and Far Cry 3 (60-80fps) dragging me under, yet they still maintain a very playable rate at max settings. Nvidia's gradually improving SLI profiles and drivers have made this card even better than when I first got it (rougly 6 months ago). The long list of SLI supported games also makes this card very worth it; Planetside 2, Battlefield 3 (soon BF4), World of Warcraft, TERA, TES: Skyrim and anything on the Source engine (HL2, L4D, Chivalry) will run absolutely amazing on this card. Games like SC2 and Diablo 3 can't make full use of this card's capabilities (to be fair WoW can't either, get with the program, BLIZZARD), so if those are your go-to games, look elsewhere, unless you love seeing 200+ FPS on a maxed out game.

Cons: Price point. Every game you can think of can be played with a lower cost card (GTX 680 comes to mind). Bear in mind that you will need to dump at least another $1000-$1500 into other high end hardware to make this card worth it. The price point is even less worth it if your favorite games do not support SLI (most do). But if you play a game that doesn't support SLI, you will not see a performance increase over a GTX 680, at least not one worth another $500-$600. While these are all cons, I went into this purchase knowing this and it was very worth it, no eggs off for the cons you should be aware of going into a purchase.

Overall Review: Strangely, this card performs better with settings maxed out. I tried to squeeze out some frames by turning down/off certain graphics features, but my FPS either stayed the same or went down. So set all your games to MAX and let this baby purr, you won't regret it. THIS CARD HAS TWO GPU'S!!!! You must look at this as a purchase of TWO cards, and plan accordingly. This one-slot card is seen the same as two cards in separate slots. Due to SLI limitations you cannot put more than 4 GPUs into a system, so do NOT buy more than two cards for a single system. Also, due to scaling and generally poor support for 3 or 4-way SLI, you'd be better off buying 2 GTX Titans if you have your heart set on two physical cards (though a single GTX 690 will out-perform a single GTX Titan in nearly every game).
