Pros: Running a pair of these, mirrored (SHR) in a Synology DS213. Replaced an old pair of 2TB Samsung HD204UI. Rebuild/expansion took about 16 hours total (6 for first drive, 4 for second, then 6 for volume expansion). They run quiet, about on par with the NAS's 92mm fan, and seeks are definitely softer than my old drives. In a 22C room, they idle around 34C and peaked at 39C during the rebuild -- as expected, a bit warmer than the 5400rpm Samsungs (26C/30C).
Cons: So far, none.
Other Thoughts: Both made in Thailand. 3.57TiB available on NAS's shared volume. 7200rpm is overkill for this particular NAS (whose LAN throughput couldn't even keep up with the 5400rpm drives) -- although NAS-internal operations like rebuilds and media scans clearly benefit from the additional speed.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Antec P100 Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Pros: Roomy, decent cable management, easy-access air filters. Silicon-grommet drive trays w/SSD mounting holes. Nice aesthetics. Not a fan of doors, but this one opens wide, has a nice mag-lock and doesn't rattle around.
Cons: Went to this from an Antec Solo, largely to accommodate a regular-size GTX 760. The P100 is lighter/thinner, and lets a little more noise out. (It's still reasonably quiet, though, and while the panels are thin, the overall feel is not flimsy).
Other Thoughts: Stock fans run about 1200rpm at high, and are fairly quiet. Didn't move enough air at low. Haven't added a third yet, but temperatures are noticeably improved over the Solo -- CPU, GPU and 7200rpm drives are all running a few degrees (C) cooler.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: HP Promo Z24i 24" 8ms Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS 300 cd/m2 1000:1
Pros: Solid image quality. Colors and brightness are even edge-to-edge, no tint issues like some of the older models. Great for videos and day-to-day desktop apps, and decent for casual gaming. Nice quality stand, easily adjustable (looks great when rotated for pinball or old vertical arcade games!). Low power, stays nice & cool.
Cons: Lacks HDMI. A bit of corner glow, if you go black-screen in a dark room. Minor, nothing I'd ding it for.
Other Thoughts: Definitely a 1920x1200 panel (lots of online listings are wrongly showing it to be 1920x1080).READ FULL REVIEW
