Pixxo Model CH-206-15 5 ft.Black High Speed HDMI® Cable M-M with Ethernet & Gold Plated Connector M-M, Support major 3D video gaming and 3D home theater applications

Pros: Good quality cable for the price.

Cons: Does not support ARC on my system. It supports 3D, but not ARC. Don't make the mistake I did if you want ARC support. Make sure the cable is v 1.4.

Great Image / Bad Flicker

Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Full HD 1920 x 1200 60Hz 8ms DisplayPort VGA DVI-D 4xUSB 2.0 Pivot Swivel Height Adjustable LED Backlit IPS Widescreen LCD Monitor
Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Full HD 1920 x 1200 60Hz 8ms DisplayPort VGA DVI-D 4xUSB 2.0 Pivot Swivel Height Adjustable LED Backlit IPS Widescreen LCD Monitor

Pros: Superb image quality. Great color, contrast, black levels. Great OSD, stand highly adjustable, good build quality.

Cons: At the default brightness value of 75, this monitor is extremely bright; far too bright for use even under bright ambient light. When the brightness is lowered, the backlight exhibits visible flickering. I cannot look at it for more than a minute without headache, eye strain, and eventually nausea. The viewing angles are not nearly as wide as higher-end IPS panels, although they are far better than TN.

Overall Review: If you are at all sensitive to flicker, steer clear of this monitor, or any other LED-backlit monitor unless you can try it in person first and check for flicker at reasonable brightness settings. Perhaps this is a defective production example, or perhaps it is a bad design. Either way, I cannot use it, so back it goes. Kudos to Newegg for their exemplary service.

Good card, bad fan

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card ZT-50401-10L
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card ZT-50401-10L

Pros: Great price to performance ratio.

Cons: Fan rattles. I just spend a small fortune at newegg buying a fanless power supply and SSDs to quiet my system. But the fan on this card makes crunching clicking sounds that are by far the loudest offender in my system. It sounds somewhat like a loud hard drive that is constantly accessing data. The fan doesn't make much of the typical fan "white noise" or whine, it just clicks and crunches. Very annoying. Back it goes, unless Zotec is willing to send me a fan.

60 Hz Flicker / Bad Color

SAMSUNG S22A450BW-1 Black 22" 5ms Height&Pivot Adjustable Widescreen LED Monitor 250 cd/m2 1000:1
SAMSUNG S22A450BW-1 Black 22" 5ms Height&Pivot Adjustable Widescreen LED Monitor 250 cd/m2 1000:1

Pros: Somewhat inexpensive.

Cons: LED backlight brightness adjustment uses pulse width modulation (all do), but at the incredibly low frequency of 60 Hz. Panel flickers at 60 Hz when brightness is reduced below 100. Brightness at 100 is way too high, so you choose between insane brightness or flicker. My work installed these and many employees are complaining of eye strain and headaches. After 1 hour of visual torture, I asked IT to return my old 18" CCFL-backlit monitors. I looked at ten examples of this monitor. They all flicker when the brightness is reduced. Unacceptable design. This is a 20-year step backwards to the days of 60 Hz CRTs. TN panel. Colors are extremely inaccurate, especially blues. No color adjustment could correct it. Poor viewing angles.

Overall Review: Be careful when buying an LED-backlit monitor. If you are bothered by flicker, make sure the PWM of the LEDs occurs at sufficiently high frequency. Note that this is not related to the refresh rate of the panel. This is strictly a backlight issue. If in doubt, stick with CCFL.
