This review is from: SAMSUNG Series 7 XE700T1A-A02US 11.6-inch Slate
Pros: Quick start up, I5 CPU, decent memory, very portable, great picture.
I do not play games, work with pictures, work with videos or basically have any normal fun the rest of the world gets to enjoy.
I use my computers for work ( not proud ), mostly extensive Excel spreadsheets and VBA code, and other MS Office programs.
opens my spreadsheets in half the time, with a VNC Viewer program it connects to our Machines at work for easy adjustment on the manufacturing floor, lets trips back and forth to the office.
i did take some time to look for some Nightwish concert videos and the streaming was great, sound is adequate
bluetooth allows me to play music from my phone over it, there was a funny boom box joke out of it. :)
i have been getting used to writing on it with MS Onenote.
So long to those yellow legal pads,
again for me its all about work and performance and I have been very happy with this so far
Cons: very few an trivial, accessories have been hard to come buy for a decent price, but waiting and the microsoftstore have paid off.
can work with the calender, but i use Outlook anyway
no place for a pen, but recently found some Velcro addons that look good.
had a tough time connecting more than 1 Bluetooth device, so i broke down and just got a wireless keyboard & mouse combo
No sound when connected to the docking station
Other Thoughts: after buying an Ipad for my folks i started looking for a tablet that could be used in a work environment. It had to run Excel and since to Outlooks calender.
So after wasting a long time with useless Ipad apps, my folks finally got the Ipad and the hunt was on.
I knew i needed a windows based tablet and this one had the performance & features bring a production facility into the 19th century ( inside joke ). Since i am not a gamer or use facebook or what ever normal people get to do. much less anticipate ever enjoying life ever again, this Slate is Great.
It is great having a small clean, easy to see, read and use computer to bring back and forth between work & home, i carry it around like a college note book, 2 lbs if that
I really enjoy thing, got the Samsung case so it better protected and just carry it almost everywhere and to every meeting, and take notes on it
i am really a much happier person than i sound about life, i just work too much.
This review is from: IOGEAR GCS42UW6 2-Port Compact USB VGA KVM with Built-in Cables
Pros: easy setup, compact, great price
Cons: works fro a couple months with out incident. fro reasons i have yet to resolve. the Generic Hub on this unit will not let my thumb drives be recognized by XP. remove the usb connection from this KVM and thumb drives are happy again. researched for what seems like next to for ever and haven't found a fix for this issue, unless i use a KVM that as its own driver for usb hub and not a generic usb hub driver.
Other Thoughts: there is no problem with the computer running server 2003, it still will read thumb drives with the generic hub. worked great for several weeks then one day just didn't want to play nice with the other kids. its happy with Win98, Wimm 2000 SP4, so it will work. you make the call. i loved it while it lastedREAD FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASUS P5VD1-X LGA 775 VIA PT880 Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: It had the features i needed and was on the ASUS list of motherboards that supported the CPU i was waiting to use...which by the way is a small list...save your self a minor headache dont get a 530J P4 processor no matter how good teh sale is...it will be worth the time you save later
Cons: seemed picky about brand of memory to use. kept coming up with errors while try load OS untill the 4th memory stick i bought. and i thought i was buying high quality memory from the start. after all that OS loaded up smooth. but the Bios doest see anything attached to the Secondary IDE connection. tryed all kinds of optical , zip and hard drives and woould not see any of them. tryed to manually enter the info and it would stop with an incompatibility error at Post.just a little Bummed. i own quite a few ASUS boards and never had a single problem over the years
Other Thoughts: trying to get this one exchanged ....never had to do that before lets see how it goesREAD FULL REVIEW
