Media Server Problem

D-Link Amplifi HD Media Router 3000 (DIR-857) Wireless N900, Dual-Band, HD Fuel QoS, Gigabit, USB SharePort Mobile, SD Card Slot
D-Link Amplifi HD Media Router 3000 (DIR-857) Wireless N900, Dual-Band, HD Fuel QoS, Gigabit, USB SharePort Mobile, SD Card Slot

Pros: Wifi works. USB 3.0. You can log into it over the internet.

Cons: I have the latest firmware. Media Server only sees 500gb max of content and shares it to LED SmartTv's/Sony Hulu box. I'm using 3tb Seagate USB3.0 ext hdd. SharePort-horribly organizes files into one list based on videos, pics, music. Doesn't see folders and figure out organizational structures. These are the two reasons why I bought this router.

Overall Review: Overall a good router. It is pricey- for such poor media server/ media sharing abilities. I think they should really work out these problems. DLink support Tier 1 and 2 have absolutely no clue how to support their own products. Tier 3 tried to call me once. No follow up calls beyond that. They must not be real concerned with supporting their products or are overwhelmed supporting their products. Buyer be aware of what your expections are and what you really want out of this router. Currently I am buying a usb 3.0 hub and another usb 3.0 external hard drive to try and test multiple drives for this product.

Poor Signal Strength DIR 868L

D-Link Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (DIR-868L)
D-Link Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Cloud Router (DIR-868L)

Pros: Lowest Price Right Now $170, USB 3.0

Cons: DIR 868L - 14 ft away and through one wall, signal falls to between 2 and 3 bars. Sat on hold for 50 min at Dlink, agent tried manually setting channels. No go. My DIR-857 Router has slightly better signal strength. Not resolved. 6:15p-7:50pm was how long my support call went. Other Cons- two networks, one for 5ghz and the other for 2ghz. My router should be intelligent enough to know what devices need juice and organize it for me. I shouldn't have to manage two wireless networks with a finite bandwidth of 25mbps (Comcast). Buyers new to a dual band - better stated as - two separate wireless routers-in-one. Will contact Newegg tomorrow for a possible return. I'm really sad and on the fence about this.

Overall Review: I don't need the headaches and neither do you. Be cautious if you have high expectations of farther range in signal strength. This just didn't happen for me. Dlink support right now (6 6 2013) did have me waiting on hold for 50 minutes. Shows they care about the customer experience.
