Pros: Works in multiple machines/ MOBO's.
Gateway DX4860 w/ i5-2300
Dell Inspiron 620 w/ i5-2320
Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H w/ G3258
AsRock H97M Pro4 w/ G3258
Cons: One stick died after about 30 days. Had to pay for the shipping. Even though that's normal, it's still a con.
Even though the RMA was painless, I have to take one egg.
Other Thoughts: Corsair RMA was as fast as humanly possible. Absolutely no hassles.
USPS tracking says Corsair received the return Thursday 3/10 at 12:15PM.
Corsair sent me an update email with FedEx tracking on Friday at 1PM. FedEx had possession of the item Thursday at 5PM.
THEY ONLY HAD THE PRODUCT FOR 4 HOURS! I have never seen anything this fast.
I should get it back in a few days.
Update 3/15. I have the replacement RAM back from Corsair. Installed, back up & running.
Pros: Super fast. Full boot is 13 seconds (SSD)
4 Slots for RAM for upgrades.
Front USB ports have power when MOBO is off for charging phone/tablets.
Still has PCI slots. (Old audio hardware)
USB 3 on rear & header for front.
Hibernate/suspend actually work perfect in Linux. (Rare)
On sale right now.
Cons: Manual says RAM should be in slots A2 & B2 first, but wouldn't POST
Another review here mentioned that, so swapped RAM to A1 & B1 & works fine.
Went on sale for $20 less about a month after I bought it
Other Thoughts: Boot is so fast that my router can't assign a lease, so I don't have Internet for a few seconds.
No documentation at all for Linux. (Not really a con, but have to disclose it)
I would definitely buy this again.
Pros: Works great out of the box. Upgrade to E2200 CPU & MOBO. Swapped this & new G3258 & 8GB new RAM into existing case & 600W PSU.
New install of Ubuntu 14.04 on SSD, kept my /home on existing WD 160GB. Everything up & running in less than 1 hour. I dont OC. Easiest build yet.
Cons: Dead after 1 month. No warning, no issues at all until tried to turn on in morning. No monitor, no sys fan. All other lights work, HDD accessing, etc.
UPDATE: Finally traced problem to 1 bad stick of Corsair RAM. Found it with memtest 86. Unfortunately I had already shipped this MOBO back. I changed 3 eggs back to 5 eggs because of the ease of setup.
Other Thoughts: I bought this because of previous review using Ubuntu. Had no install issues at all, so that part was fantastic.
I checked the Monitor/PSU/Vid Card on other working PC's, it's not any of those. It was a good month till it died.
UPDATE: Finally traced problem to 1 bad stick of Corsair RAM. Found it with memtest 86. I have to applaud NewEgg for taking the return back. That's why I buy almost everything here.
